Exchange as follows:
STEPHANIE RUHLE, host: In order to be the president of the United States, you have to be a leader. We have not seen your soft hand. We have seen your offense, but George Bush had to stand in front of America after 9/11, Barack Obama did after Sandy Hook. Help us understand who Donald Trump is as a man. I need to know that you will make us feel a safe and you will make us feel proud.
TRUMP: I think I have a bigger heart than all of them. I think Im much more competent than all of them. When you talk about George BushI mean, say what you want, the World Trade Center came down during his time.
RUHLE: Hold on. You cant blame George Bush for that.
TRUMP: He was president, OK. Blame him or dont blame him, but he was president. The World Trade Center came down during his reign.

Of course it happened, but why did Trump have to bring it up?
What I don’t like is in-fighting. Every bit of Republican Circular Firing Squad behavior benefits the Democrats.
Does anyone think that President Bush will campaign for Donald Trump?
Haven’t we learned that with the current demographic breakdown in America, the Obama demographic coalition can get to 51-53% of the electorate?
TRUMP: He was president, OK. Blame him or dont blame him, but he was president. The World Trade Center came down during his reign.
Of all the things one can criticize Democrats and RINOs about, Trump wastes time saying that George Bush was president during 911.
Are you accusing Trump of being a Truther?
No. Of course not.
As big a stinker as W was, 911 occurred right after 8 years of Clinton crime family rule.
I thought it was a fact that information sharing between our agencies was all screwed up, which is why plenty of stories like these are around:
"As has been previously reported, Rossini and another FBI agent assigned to the CTC, Doug Miller, say they learned in January 2000 that one of the future hijackers, an Al-Qaeda operative by the name of Khalid al-Mihdhar, had a multi-entry visa to enter the U.S. By mid-summer of 2001, the CIA was repeatedly warning President George W. Bush and other White House officials that an Al-Qaeda attack was imminent. But Miller and Rossini say when they attempted to warn FBI headquarters that al-Mihdhar could be loose in the U.S., a CIA supervisor ordered them to remain silent.
Rossini says he is deeply concerned by how the agency continues to suppress information related to contacts between the CIA and Saudi Arabia, particularly when the spy agency is declassifying other portions of documents to show that it did everything possible to thwart the September 11, 2001 plot.
There would have not been a 9/11 if Doug's CIR [Central Intelligence Report] on al-Mihdhar was sent, he told Newsweek in an email. Period. End of story."

It was because of this incompetence in the first place that I thought we had stuff like the Patriot Act and other reforms.
That's what I took from it as well.
Actually Trump wanted Bush impeached over Iraq.
Considering pretty much the whole world thought Saddam had WMD’s (including the Clinton administration) and that Bush eventually did pacify Iraq, it’s pretty appalling that the current GOP front runner believes these things.
This is the kind of talk that probably do Trump in...he just cant keep his big NYC mouth shut.
A legitimate criticism of George W. Bush. The man would not stand up or defend himself from the withering criticism he got from press or the Democrat or from Winnie the Pooh.
He let it for others to defend him. What was his excuse - that was beneath the presidency? Letting the opposition walk all over you is not being presidential or being a leader.
Bush had been president for only nine months, for Pete’s sake. If one wants to place blame, it definitely goes to Clinton. Trump is wrong on this one - big time
And no more talk about Hillary's emails or Benghazi!
Enough!☺
LOL, yup. Any criticism of Trump now, no matter how unconservative "the Donald's" positions is met with a barrage of "you're a GOPe RINO" charges.
We are in cult of personality territory here. No amount of reason, evidence, intellectual discourse, etc, is going to change the mind of a die hard Trumpster. For the most part they love the man, not necessarily many of his policies. In fact when it comes to policy, they mostly don't care - only trotting out his "evolved" conservative views to rebut charges that Trump is not and has never been an ideological conservative.
It's really no wonder Trump seems to have a soft spot for Putin. In many ways, they are quite similar.
This is the kind of talk that probably do Trump in...
Geez, if only I had a dime for every time someone said that. I’d be as rich as Trump, himself.
Reign? Presidents are not kings, Mr. Trump. Words matter, please choose your identifiers a bit more carefully.
Bush loved the Saudi’s
Trump stated a fact, a true fact that 911 happened on W’s watch, what the hell is wrong with stating a damn fact?
yes this is a fact. But the implication is that somehow Bush was responsible for 9/11, or responsible for not preventing it. That’s what has people upset about these comments, not the statement of a fact.
