I can think of 3 possibilities why he brought it up...
He doesn’t feel that he has had enough press coverage this week and has to say something over the top. (my personal choice) He can always walk it back later and say “That’s not what I meant!”

Thats what I get out of it. And it did happen on Bush's watch. No doubt there were mistakes made letting those terrorists operate inside the US with impunity. I believe those Saudi terrorists were under US government surveillance, and they should have been rolled up and thrown out of the country.

If you read my post (I doubt that you did) it had NOTHING to do with Bush. It had to do with Trump. As far as I know W is not running and I fail to see why he is being brought up.

I have said from the beginning that I disagree with Trump on Iraq. I think any serious CinC would have HAD to invade due to al-Qaeda and WMD evidence. But you have to give Trump credit, he has never waivered from the notion that this was a bad move. So he's hardly a flip flopper like Hillary or Obama. And I think, despite what he says now, a President Trump would have done exactly the same thing. Any responsible president would.
