WASHINGTON (CNN) Donald Trump implied Friday that former President George W. Bush could share some blame for the September 11, 2001, attack on the World Trade Center, since he was in office at the time.
"When you talk about George Bush, I mean, say what you want, the World Trade Center came down during his time," Trump said Friday morning on Bloomberg TV.
Bloomberg anchor Stephanie Ruhle interjected, "Hold on, you can't blame George Bush for that," before Trump stood by his comments.
"He was president, OK? ... Blame him, or don't blame him, but he was president. The World Trade Center came down during his reign," Trump said.
The comments came in response to a question from Ruhle about Trump's "soft hand." She said the world had seen his strong side, but Bush after 9/11 and President Barack Obama after the Sandy Hook massacre both had to stand in front of America and show a different side of them.
Oh, Mr. Trunp - don’t go there!
Bush had to do clean-up detail.
This is not the mark of a Constitutional Conservative.
I’m not a big “W” fan but come on. He had been in office less than a year and it was Clinton that refused to go after Bin Laden.
If Trump wins the WH, some very nasty chickens are going to come home to roost, brought into the barnyard by you-know-who. Will he be saying “hey, that all happened on my watch” when that happens?
What the heck??
Michael Moore and other liberals point to the National Security Briefing of Aug. 6, 2001, in which Bush was warned that Bin Laden was planning something involving airplane hijackings, as their evidence that Bush did nothing to prevent 9/11. Do we really want to go there???
As far as blame, there was plenty of blame placed on the Clinton administration’s handling of foreign affairs, in the 9/11 commission report, regarding the lead up to 9/11.
There was an ABC mini series done about the lead up to 9/11. The Clintons pressured ABC to make some changes to the facts reported in that series, to cast less blame on Clinton.
And that mini series was shown exactly once on ABC, has never been rerun, and has never been released on home video. Due to pressures from the Clintons. This mini series hit too close to home.
9/11 was about as much George Bushes fault as hurricane Katrina was.
“This is not the mark of a Constitutional Conservative.”
With George W Bush’s refusal to enforce immigration laws, what else can you call it (when a “ruler” chooses laws he wants to enforce)?
Well he is not one. You know a leopard by its spots.
Misleading headline?
Getting out the popcorn, the excuses ought to be brilliant.
Well..I guess we could blame it all on Clinton and his policies...but he’s right...Bush was president. But it’s smart politically. He’s picking up bush haters and there were a ton of them.
More gotcha politics by the MSM. Don’t fall for it.
I’ll admit at the outset that this is more of a conspiracy theory than analysis, but it seems to me that for some reason Trump has an animus against the Bushes (ala Ross Perot)
Could he be running simply to prevent Jeb from getting the nomination?
On 9/11, GWB had barely been able to finish his Cabinet appointments, what with Jumpin’ Jim Jeffords defecting and giving the Dems 50% of the control of the Senate. Trump shoots from the lip and sometimes makes a real mess of it.
That’s a cheap shot. The planning for that attack took place during the watch of Trumps friend Bill Clinton.
It wasn’t a reign. It was Clinton’s fault.
Right! Since the vast majority of the 9/11 attacker’s were Muslims from Saudi Arabia, Bush really took it to the Saudi’s and shut down Islam as a world military force! And the Bushes had nothing to do with the Clintons after that because they were so mad at Clinton for missing the cues. Eventually, you realize that it is a Uniparty of elites that are bent on world dominance and who think they can use Islam as the “enemy” to do fool the sheeple into accepting that.
Bush was no conservative
