The FOX national poll also asked the first/second choice question, but did not provide direct tabs of the share of Trump backers who chose Cruz, et al, as their second choice. It did, however, do the next best thing: it gave the entire GOP race standings if Trump were out. Trump polled 26 percent in the overall standings and Cruz polled 8 percent. Without Trump, Cruz rose to 11 percent, a three point gain. Three divided by 26 is about 11 1/2 percent, nearly identical to the thirteen percent from the other two polls.
This might seem to be too low given that Cruz is actively courting Trump and his backers. But the PPP poll suggests that effort is not yet paying off. Cruzs name ID among Trump backers is only 47 percent positive, 37 percent negative. He still has a lot of selling to do before Trumpets think Ted Cruz when their thoughts stray from His Hairness.
Now, there are plenty of scenarios in which I can imagine Cruz will do well with current Trump supporters. If Cruz breaks through in Iowa and Bush recovers to win New Hampshire, for example, he could pick up loads of Trump supporters in an ensuing one-on-one. Or if Ben Carson, who currently is the Trump backers favorite second choice, fades, perhaps the junior Senator from Texas will gain those voters love.

Why would a Trump and Carson team up ensure a sweep of every state if it’s a “nightmare scenario?”
Did you mean the Democrat opponent would beat this ticket in every state?
Three different posters have called you out on this...time for either a mea culpa or a defense from you. (hint: a non response will be scored as mea culpa...)
Yes. The H1B visa expansion is a problem for me with Cruz.
> I hardly ever see Cruz on MSM interviews anymore. Whats going on with that???
i don’t know but I do know someone who runs around with his dad quite often. Maybe he’s trying to be less visible until he rounds the stretch. A lot of the more visible politicians get focused on by the MSM early on and they start digging up anything they can find on them. Sometimes It feels like politicians are calling in favors with their media contacts to destroy other candidates in exchange for airtime (if they’re in demand)...
He was on Hannity and Megan Kelly this week. I mean this with respect, Trump is a master at getting the media to cover him, he’s a great promoter and has skills that would make P.T. Barnum blush. Cruz is playing the long game and is trying to peak at the right time. So far, I think he’s doing a great job, he’s moving up in the polls, he has a great ground game and is ready to break out.
I’ll take Trump, Carson, or Cruz over Obama ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.
And Carson is burning through that money faster than compulsive Vegas gambler.
The ‘real’ reality is.... where do ‘CRUZ’ supporters go?..., not where do ‘TRUMP’ supporters go?... after all, who’s the candidate that now has 30% vs 15%?
I think that is a very accurate assessment of Trump, Cruz, and their respective places in the polls. The only caveat would be this: while Cruz is playing the long game, chess if you will - there is the possibility has changed the game to checkers...and he's all over the board. I would also say that I was very disappointed in Cruz on Hannity two nights ago. Very cliched. Very over handled. ..and knowing two of his advisors, I'm afraid he's actually taking their advice. (not a good thing).
I think at this point it is Trumps race to lose. As long as he does nothing flamboyantly stupid, and his team can organize a ground game that gets his voters to the polls, he will win.
Both Carson and Cruz and betting their money on the ground game of getting voters to the polls in the primaries. If Trump can covert the enthusiasm of his supporters in to action, he should win.

Here you go. This very bad new for Bush and very good new for Trump
I meant "nightmare for Jeb and the GOPe".
True.
Another Lie.
Carson has 11 million in the bank. Here is an idea. Stop lying and make the case FOR your candidate rather then lying about the other candidates
I think it’s Trump’s race to lose too.
I hate to say it but you are right. And it's sad too because he was like one or two people left in congress I thought I could trust.
I wish people would wake up about the Cheap Labor movement. It's killing the middle class.
How about the other way around? What about all of these single digit Reps who are not viable under any scenario? Where do their votes go?
The GOPe and MSM are suffering from TDS. They are desperate as no one appears capable of derailing Trump. The GOPe would rather lose than have Trump as the nominee.
Either that or they have listened to Carson and realized the guy has more brain power and integrity that the Democrat field put together.
