India has been named the most attractive country for investment in a survey of more than 500 global investors published by accounting firm EY (Ernst & Young) on Wednesday.

Thirty-two percent of the 505 executives questioned said India was their favoured market for investment, with China second on 15 percent of the vote, followed by Southeast Asia, Brazil and North America.

India certainly has enough workers with population approaching China, and expected to get larger than China in few short years. But I do not believe red tape and corruption have been addressed enough. I grew up in India and left at age 20 to attend post-graduate degree in engineering. In those days I was allowed 18 months to work in a job in my field of study. After that my plan was to return. However my industrial employer did not want me to leave, and fought to get me approved for a green card (permanent resident visa).

Good article, entropy12.

Demographics is destiny.

By 2030, half the population in Commie China will be 50 years old or greater. The stupid ChiComms have aborted their future.

By that same date, half the population in India will be 30 years of age or younger.

Where might demand for goods and services be stronger? Where might private equity firms plan to invest?

As of right now, the broadbands in India can’t keep up with demand. India will be the economic and military powerhouse on the continent. Investing in India is wise.

No they won’t, because there are no free food stamps, no subsidized Obamacare, no rent subsidy, no free Obama phones etc. in India. Only us stupid Americans elect politicians who create more dis-incentives to work hard.

I visited Singapore last year. It is an amazing country. The highways, airport, cruise terminal, hospitals etc are world class. Their unemployment rate, I was told, is minus 40%. Meaning the have 40% more jobs than there are citizens. Every 6th Singapore citizen is a millionaire.

Guess what, there not even a food stamp program in such a prosperous country as Singapore. If you do not work, you do not eat. Is it any wonder they have more jobs than there are citizens? Those excess jobs are filled by imported workers on 2-year work permits.

“Those excess jobs are filled by imported workers on 2-year work permits.”

And you can bet they are strictly enforced unlike here.

OMG they are enforced so strictly, no one ever tries to cheat because then they are black listed for life. Those Asian & Arab workers from neighboring countries value the jobs highly, so the illegal immigrant problem is close to zero. At end of 2 years each workers must leave Singapore and re-apply for 2 year work-permit if the employer wants to continue his/her employment. Lot of Arabs live in Singapore. Any religious fanatics are promptly jailed or deported if non-citizens. Population is a mix of Chinese, Indians and Arabs with some left over British.
