The Obama administration is spending $75 million a year arming EPA special agents with drones, night vision goggles, guns and assault ships.
The EPA special force was formed to take out US polluters. The Spectator reported:
"According to a report released last week by a watchdog group called Open the Books, the EPA has spent millions of dollars recently on guns, ammo, body armor, camouflage equipment, and even night-vision goggles to arm its agents in the war on polluters.
The Illinois-based investigative group examined thousands of checks totaling more than $93 billion from 2000 to 2014 by the EPA, and its auditors indicate that about $75 million is authorized each year for criminal enforcement of Americas clean air and water laws. This includes cash for a cadre of 200 special agents that engage in SWAT-style ops.
We were shocked ourselves to find these kinds of pervasive expenditures at an agency that is supposed to be involved in clean air and clean water, said Open the Books founder, Adam Andrzejewski, a former candidate for governor of Illinois. Some of these weapons are for full-scale military operations.
Some of these military operations have been reported in the media. Two years ago, the EPA was involved in an armed raid at a small town in Alaska where miners were accused of polluting local waters, as Fox News reported that EPA armed agents in full body armor participated.
The EPAs own website describes the activities and mission of the criminal enforcement division as investigating cases, collecting evidence, conducting forensic analyses and providing legal guidance to assist in the prosecution of criminal conduct that threatens peoples health and the environment.

Another reason to abolish the EPA.
Will their drones be watching the EPA...one of the largest polluters of rivers?
What fools and tyrants.
This ends one of two ways. One is not pretty.
Both have been sucked into this hole of glorying in themselves (I’d call it a glory hole but that gives entirely the wrong connotation). Though the GOP still with a more conservative-esque flavor.
One nation under God is a silly slogan if it isn’t true, and it covers up the fact being untrue at this point.
The sovereignty of those little entities ended in 1865.
Nice gear. It could be of some use to patriots.
Civil wars are messy
I guess the sanctions for our mixing the cardboard and the plastic at the recycle station are going to get much stricter and more permanent.
Four guys for an overturned quart of Pennzoil? You sure that’s gonna be enough???
The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
For Halloween I was thinking of going as an EPA agent. Talk about terrifying.
“Someone” suggested that there has been night dumping going on resulting in tax funded cleanup bills.
Maybe. I’d still want to know a cost effectiveness here, and whether live investigations that might justify the need can somehow consolidate police resources. Why does every agency need whiz bang resources as its own army when, say, the FBI could be the center of it.
Knock-knock. We are here for your Diesel VW Beetle convertible.
You could open up a lot of recycling centers for $75 million. As sides benefits, some might even become self-supporting and nobody killed.
Does anyone know how the funding process goes on something like this? Is the EPA given a lump amount and then spends it as they want or is this a specific line items in the apropration?
It’s high time that Obama’s people spend some extra money and buy them blue helmets with the UN Logo. It will make it so much simpler when it hits the fan.
I’d want to see the economics of it, certainly. How much of this behavior is driven by a fundamental bent to crime, and how much is because it is so cursedly difficult today to “do the right thing ecologically.”
Also I wonder how much of this it would have taken to have been more careful at those mines where the recent spills happened.
Excellent summation on your part. Well said.
