The chances of escalation from a proxy war to outright war just went to 11 on the Spinal Tap amplifier of sabre-rattling. A day after British and NATO pilots were reportedly given the green light to take drastic action against Russian fighter jets if they come under threat during missions over Iraq, Interfax reports that the Russian Defense Ministry has demanded clarification. Senior defence sources say it is just a matter of time before our fighters are involved in a deadly confrontation with Russian jets.
The Chinese, it appears, are wholeheartedly behind Putin's efforts, judging by the following puff-piece from Xinhua (unofficially China's government mouthpiece)...

That theatre is only going to get more perilous. Chinese planes are supposed to be joining Russia’s mission soon.

Shortest air war. . .ever. . .US wins again.
Sorry it will be Russia not Syria u want war with..
Correct?
I wonder who the lucky Brit is that gets to test the performance of Russian weapons?
There’s still a NATO?
Then they better start defending against the Muzzie invasion of Europe.
I see only one reason for the British to make such a statement, to ramp things up even more. Be assured Russian pilots now have heard of this bit of news.
At some point this situation is going to explode.
Our current ROE is to run away.

There are a couple of things to take into account. This administration sends our troops into battle handcuffed with rules of engagement guaranteed to get them killed. Due to the ongoing budget crisis it is likely that critical maintenance has been put off and the planes will have a much shorter combat life than they otherwise could. Our planes are, mostly, thirty-plus years old. We don’t have secure bases to fly from and the aircraft carriers will be much more vulnerable near Syria than in the middle of a big ocean. Due to the bad experiences we’ve had with previous Democratic presidents, I have every suspicion that we are not ready or even capable to going head to head with any first world power at the moment. Remember also, that if we go against Russia and China that it will instantly be a world-wide conflict.
What the heck are we doing there? Why are we trying to depose the most moderate possible leader in the region? (Yeah, he’s evil, but not burn-innocents-alive-in-cages evil.)
The air combat would be against Russian jets, not Russian pilots.
US, Britain, France, NATO need to get out of the skies over
Syria immediately and leave the job to Russia. They haven’t done diddly in more than a year and their presence is illegal to boot.
What would we gain...?
NOTHING.
The Kenyan’s had his pants pulled down in public and it’s fallen on Cameron to pull them back up. He will rip out his seat while doing so and Holland will be on hand to stitch them up.
Clowns all, without an ounce of fight between them.
In times past we would have Britain’s back on this.
Ahhhh
What is the current inventory of planes but more do they even have the Pilots to fly??
wow
