Remember the name of this pandering, former Rat-turned RINO, Governor Nathan Deal, and ensure that the only pubic office he is ever elected to again is dog catcher.

Will they have to pay his blood sucking family for his likeness?

So when the Dem created Klan destroys it and the Dem created victim group retaliates, which non Dem involved group will be forced to be manipulated and taxed for the repair?

The merits of such a monument aside, an elevated tower atop Stone Mountain is going to be struck by lightning repeatedly.

Will it look like Mao in reflection of the DC statue?

It’s time MLK’s entire FBI file be released. This guy is being hailed as a saint when he was far from it.

How nice that Georgia has a full complement of police, fire, and EMS personnel, all of its roads and schools are in pristine condition, it has all the hospitals it needs, its National Guard is fully funded, its teachers are adequately paid, and its population is fully employed.

Otherwise, they certainly wouldn't have time or money to waste on monuments.

On the summit of Stone Mountain, yards away from where Ku Klux Klansmen once burned giant crosses, just above and beyond the behemoth carving of three Confederate heroes, state authorities have agreed to erect a monument to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

You gotta hand it to politicians. If it is possible to man meaningless, gratuitous gestures then they won't pass up that chance.

Even as a northerner through and through, I am not sure this is appropriate. Are we supposed to put a monument to him on every place mentioned in that speech? Because there are lots of hillsides and valleys.

Fine. But leave the Confederate sculptures unharmed.

In the late 60’s, while at Griswald Winters and Swain, we developed the master plan for the park at Stone Mountain. For the open meadow at the base of the sculpture, we provided individual landscape settings for each of the thirteen confederate states. The individual designs featured each state’s flowers and trees, along with their individual state flag.

Each landscape setting was positioned and chosen based upon the order of each state’s succession and framed so that there was no obscured view of the sculpture. This was many years ago, and was developed to show reverence for southern history: a history that should not be dismissed.

We, as a country, must stop this kind of political nonsense. When there is no respect for the past, we have no future.

"would celebrate the single line in the civil rights martyr’s 1963 “I Have a Dream” speech that makes reference to the 825-foot-tall hunk of granite: “Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia.”

Outrageous. This was plagiarized from a speech given by Black Republican Minister Archibald Carey, Jr. to the 1952 Republican National Convention. Where's the monument for Rev. Carey ?

I've been to Stone Mountain, and watched a wonderful laser show.

Why don't they take this monstrosity and put it on Martin Luther King JR Boulevard, or one of the many Peachtree Streets in town.

Stone Mountain is so huge that a “monument” on top of it will hardly be visible from the ground. Still, MLK is not worthy of a monument of any kind, anywhere, of any size. I’m sick of everyone always mentioning his name in reverence. He was a rabble rouser of the first order, a plagiarist, a whoremonger, and a liar.
