I understand your attempt to heal this breach - but, it’s just something that has bugged me for so long and I couldn’t put my finger on it. Call it a deep gut feeling or woman’s intuition or whatever. I just felt that something wasn’t ringing true about Cruz. I think he is a good man, but I also think he is a weasel too. Can one be both? Yes.
One could be the very picture of virtue and yet remain just that... a picture.
A person who has had David-like struggles with the Lord is probably going to do better in faith than a Solomon who had it all set out for him from the beginning. David wasn’t as broadly wise as his famous son, but what he did for the Lord, was from much deeper in his heart. David repented (through bitter chastisement) from the bad attitudes engendered by his wicked streak. Solomon went for the technical excuses and accommodated his pagan wives in pagan sacrifices. So who was “smarter” in the end?
I may be wrong, but I believe what seems to be the “weasel quotient” to you with Cruz, is simply his inability to connect with you.
I don’t think he’s a weasel. I just think he has a hard time connecting. I like his core beliefs, but I can’t honestly say I enjoy watching him articulate them.
Maybe I’m way off base there. That’s how I see him.
