Sen. Ted Cruz said Thursday that he doesnt think that Donald Trump will capture the 2016 GOP presidential nomination and predicted that it is only a matter of time before most of the New York billionaires supporters will move into his camp. During an appearance on WABC-AM Radio, host Rita Cosby asked Mr. Cruz whether he would eventually move past Mr. Trump based on his conservative principles, and the Texas Republcian said I think thats right. In time, I dont believe Donald is going to be the nominee, and I think in time the lions share of his supporters end up with us, Mr. Cruz said. Mr. Trump has tangled with most of the candidates running for the Republican presidential nomination and has touted how some of his rivals have sunk in the polls after attacking him. But he has not traded barbs with Mr. Cruz, who has been Mr. Trumps biggest ally in the crowded GOP field. In the WABC-AM interview, Mr. Cruz continued to praise Mr. Trump, saying he liked and respected Donald. Mr. Cruz said Mr. Trump has boosted his candidacy and his chance of becoming the partys standard-bearer. I think his involvement has been tremendously helpful to my campaign because it has framed the central question of the primary as: Who will stand up to Washington? Mr. Cruz said. And if thats the central question, the natural next question, that any voter will ask is okay, well who actually has stood up to Washington? Who has a record in that regard? The Cruz campaign also announced Thursday that he will report raising $12.2 million over the last three months exceeding the hauls of fellow Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida, who plans to report $6 million, and Rand Paul of Kentucky, who raised $2.5 million.

It is a great sin to speak for the Lord. You should stop, and return to politics.
A couple of points - Obama isn’t running again, so Cruz will NOT have an opportunity to debate him. We are not electing a champion debater, but a Commander in Chief.
This article really helps clarify what I couldn’t put my finger on about Cruz - he isn’t a strategist - he’s a weasel. I think he is using Trump - there I said it! Yes, Trump is arrogant and bombastic at times, but Cruz is underhanded, scheming and has an air about him that turns me off. He used to be my number 1, and then I had him as VP pick, now - he is dead to me and will not get my vote should Donald leave the race or not get the nomination. And, please - Cruz bots - do not try your conservative crapola to try and make me feel guilty if I choose not to vote for him. He’s been lurking and cozying up to Trump - hoping he will fall so he can pick up his voters. NOT ME! Sneaky little snot is what he is. I also think he staged all these battles on the floor of the Senate to try and boost his status as an outsider who stands up to the DC cartel - as he calls them. Yeah, he’s good at speechifying, but, there is something ruthless underneath that demeanor.
I don’t think Cruz’s comments affect any chances he might have of being a VP candidate under Trump — if it comes to that.
Agreed
True that!
You mean like saying a man has no chance!
:)
Jane, read my post - #148. I’m angry, so very angry at what Cruz said and it now opens my eyes to what I couldn’t discern about him. He will NOT get my vote should Trump leave the race or not get the nomination.
If Cruz believed Trump was going to be the nominee he would drop his campaign. I can’t believe that people are offended that Cruz would think he can/will win.
To many follow the cult of personality. Sad people behaving like a bunch of emotion driven libs.
Just by continuing to be there, the ones behind Trump are saying it anyhow... even !Jeb! who isn’t tooting like this.
Maybe Trump WILL step on his je ne sais quoi, but his history of bad deals is something like in the single digit percentages of all his deals. He is a great negotiator. It so happens that greater America IS more conservative than its government, and so aiming right for the heart of that is a winning move.
GOOD ONE - LOL
and on the mark.
Not going to say more. Good night.
WOW!
Excellent
Oops, I erred - I meant read my post at #142. Sorry, I’m very, very angry right now.
I would urge folks not to see Cruz’s comments in this light.
I disagree as stated, but there’s no real reason to be upset with Ted.
He made what I think is a mistake, but he didn’t trash Trump.
If something were to happen to Trump, I do want people thinking Ted.
Until then, I wish Ted would refrain from this kind of talk.
That might not be the only reason to stay in a race, another reason being to encourage the race to take a particular form. If there were no Cruz in the race, would Trump have cared so openly about things like 2nd Amendment?
We’re watching a picture develop and it has many elements. I suggest God, not a man, is the entity worthy of worshiping. What looks like a move of God and what looks like a move of worldliness?
If this is Cruz’ idea of “leading” and “fighting”....to bite at ankles when he’s polling 6%....and yapping that he’ll get Trump’s votes...then, no thanks.
I’ve supported Cruz with my time and $$.
I’ve been sorely disappointed in his H-1B visa stance and his “Trade” agreement support. This is the final straw. He’s sounding like Bobby Jindal, now :(
Well said, and I agree.
As an original Cruz supporter.....it was an eye opener when my focus changed about him.
Not too keen on his wife either,
Yes, you are...
;)
I think Trump wants the attention, but not the Presidency. Trump has no ground game and Cruz is building an excellent base. Still a lot of time to go.
