I suspect we’re not going to get a real conservative.
So, I’ll settle for a somewhat conservative Speaker.
So far, all we’ve had it True Liberals.

A conservative is not going to be elected because there are not the numbers to pull such a thing off.
There are a block of conservative votes who can block a blockhead like Boehner/McCarthy from becoming Speaker, who would go on ignoring the conservatives desire for a voice and a seat at the table, but they can not actually elect one of their own in the House without a majority.
Whoever wins will be promising conservatives a little more respect than the GOPE has been willing to give them. They liked the circumvention of the whole body, not bringing votes, and keeping the power among a few in the smokey back room.
YOU are absolutely correct. We are not going to get a real conservative..... YET!
