Yes, it reminds me of a woman I heard about who kept telling cops that drugs were being sold at a use down the street onle cops saying they had no proof.
She then decided to get that proof and bought some drugs from it and went to the cops with it.
She was charged and arrested for drug possession.
Same as this guy. He bought an illegal gun and therefore should be arrested and charged as such.
