To be honest, I think several American craft brewers beat the best European brewers in every category except for a few of the Belgian types (even then Allagash and Ommegang are right on their heels). Ayinger is probably my favorite German brewery but even then I could name American brewers who make better Dopplebocks and Marzens.

I absolutely love Weihenstephaner’s Korbinian Dopplebock.

InBev or one of the earlier owners of Rolling Rock turned it into horse piss.

I believe Yuengling is still an independent Pennsylvania beer. But hard to find out of about 7 states.

For me, the perfect dubbelbock is rich, very sweet, malty, bready, and has just enough hops to balance it out...not giving it a particular hop taste.

Korbinian is good and I do buy it but I’ve had brown ales richer than it. I knock them all the time but Sam Adams makes a better dubbelbock.

Somebody’s drinking it.

Because it is cheap...compared to real, properly brewed beers.

Joe and Bubba Six Pack ain't gonna pay $10 for a six pack of beer. No one drinks Bud (of any variety) or Miller (of any variety) for the taste.
