Dr. Afzal Ashraf, a Consultant Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute, has long been saying ISISs strength is exaggerated mostly because the Iraqi army caved.
From a BBC opinion piece written by Dr. Ashraf in September, 2014.
After the shock of Islamic States (IS) land-grab in Iraq, horrifying videos of hostage beheadings and the public debates about possible terrorist attacks at home and military action abroad, it is unsurprising that people are worried.
Collectively, these factors have made the threat of IS appear greater and the situation more pessimistic than it is.
Of course, IS should be taken seriously and stopped, but the situation is more positive than many think.
Obama was supplying ISIS, so he wasn’t attacking them at all, he is backed by the Muslim Brother Hood.
I’m surprised Tammy ran with this story
“Additional Flexibility”
KA-BOOOOOOM...!
Putin sure had HIM figgered out, huh...?
The ISIS fighters are now in Germany, Austria and France, living off the welfare stares stupid enough to roll out the welcome mats for them. Doesn’t that make them the winners?
Kill the bad guys and get the Hell out. Our boys had no business handing out lollipops to Afghani children or nation-building. Let these people stew in their own feces.
The Russian campaign in Syria seems to have bolstered the Iraqi forces
They are beginning to kick butt
The Russians aircraft should start going into Iraq within a few days
Obama has been pounding them for a year now and was just about to finish then off when the Russians stepped in (cough)
Saw an identical claim last night. It wasn’t true then, it isn’t true now.
Insurgencies, like snakes and cockroaches, take a while to die.
Yep, won’t be long before the media starts running that narrative.
It’s funny but the ones from Syria are running for Iraq and the ones from Iraq are running for Syria
Except for the ones running for Turkey
I hope the Russians find and target one grand stretch of the highway of death
“If Bush would have done this at the outset, hours after 09/11, we wouldn’t have to worry about Islam or Islamic refugees pouring into Europe even.”
Opening some bottled sunshine in Saudi Arabia would have been the correct response.
Was somebody counting on a mass Isis based attavk in America, something so big and dastardly, something much much bigger, enough in theory to finally shock America to possibly accept a nationwide gun buyback?
So if Isis is decimated in other places then that must mean a whole lot LESS of muslims will be coming to America.
At first thought, this story is hard to believe. But until the Russians showed up, Islamic State had not been subjected to any serious bombing campaign. Obama’s eight or ten sorties per day, and not all of those dropping their payload, could not have had a significant impact over the large area held by IS.
With the Russians flying fifty or more sorties per day without the absurd rules of engagement US forces are always under, who knows how much damage they might be inflicting.
ISIS has been a part of our language for some years now, and getting rid of them has become (like almost everything else) a cliche'
Putin is not stupid ... a very big man is about to sit in the White House and he (Putin) is going to enter the global history of 2017 and beyond as someone to be reckoned with
What'd it take .... two weeks?
Anyone remotely aware of politics knows it is BS to say it'll take months or years to _______________
When we fought out in the school yasrd ... it was over in 5 minutesw and SETTLED.
Some of the Iraqis are now believing obama wanted to keep ISIS going as an excuse to keep the US airbases in Iraq
None of them believe the US was in combat against ISIS
So why would the Iraq army want to die fighting ISIS ?

Yep, I'd bet on it.
They may take a while to be completely killed off, but a fast & violent counter-assault can go a long way. You deal with a snake & cockroach infestation by killing every one you see, poisoning the ones you can’t, ignoring the fact the process will be messy, and then cleaning the place up & patching holes ASAP; fearing & negotiating with them doesn’t work.
I don’t disagree. And I am quite certain that ISIS is feeling real pain and taking real casualties for the first time in their existence as a... whatever it is. But they are an insurgency, and they are supported by the governments in Washington D.C., Riyadh, and Ankara at a minimum. They’re going to take a lot of killing.
