FORT CAMPBELL, KY (WSMV) - A Fort Campbell soldier died on Tuesday after being shot during a training exercise, according to officials.
A spokesman said the solider, who has not been identified, died around 10:20 a.m. at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital on post at Fort Campbell.
No other soldiers were injured. The death is currently under investigation.
Two, in two days.
Sad, but it’s the nature of the game. When I was stationed at Fort Carson with the 3rd ACR, it seemed like every time we did a large training exercise someone was killed. Mostly in some very nasty ways.
Marine Corps in the Eighties, we had that too, of course. A few guys getting killed in big exercises wasn’t uncommon. My uncle (Army, Germany in the 50s) said the same thing.
Happened a lot when I was in Germany 1988-90
Usually somebody got ran over during night ops, although there was the two guys that thought wearing a pro-mask filtered carbon monoxide out of vehicle exhaust. They were using the exhaust to heat their pup tent. Oops!
Prayers up.
Sheesh, I hope Obamugabe doesn’t show up there to say that the military should not be allowed to have guns.
