Ted Cruz is in second place in the hearts of Texas Republican voters right now, behind Donald Trump. But there is a silver lining for the Texas senator, reports San Antonio Express News:
Donald Trump leads the Republican field in Texas, but U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz is close behind and is the second choice for more than a third of the mogul's supporters, according to a new poll.
Cruz has been reluctant to criticize Trump and has often played up their policy similarities leading many to speculate that Cruz is aligning himself with Trump backers to sweep up as many as he can if the real estate mogul drops out of the race.
The poll of Texas voters, conducted by Texas Lyceum, also found Hillary Clinton leading the Democratic field but losing against Trump, Cruz and even Jeb Bush in any hypothetical presidential election match-up.
I am still hoping Trump will fade and that Cruz will get his shot at the top spot.
That might be a pipe dream. Cruz is a wonderful man, but not ready for the top spot. He will make a great VP though.
I dont want Cruz in the worthless VP slot.
We are better off with him in the Senate than that.
The presidency or nothing in my opinion.
Nixon was very productive in the VP slot. I think Trump knows how to delegate work to those around him.
I think Cruz is totally ready for the top spot! Trumps outrageous behavior makes me wonder how he would behave in the top spot.
“I think Trump knows how to delegate work to those around him.”
Trump would use Cruz like a battering ram. Set him free on Constitutional issues.
Don’t buy the Trump inevitability hype. That’s what the bottom feeders count on.
When people actually vote, they’ll choose the conservative over the NY democrat.
Hang in there Ted. If Trump falls all his support will be going to you. If he doesn’t fall he’s gonna need a good man for his VP.
If I can’t have Cruz in the white house, I’ll take him running the Senate.. To bad none of the Rino’s would support him there either.
I think Trump will behave nicely in the top spot. He hasn’t been in business all these years by not “behaving.” If you want a mush mouth in office - then vote for that person. I want a leader and a man of action. I’m not saying Cruz is a mush mouth - but, he just isn’t ready for the top spot yet. Besides, everyone says what you see on tv from Trump is different than the way he is in private. He’s campaigning and throwing fire bombs - which we need - this country has been lulled to sleep. Flowery speeches just aren’t going to cut it.
I’m enjoying the Trump Show, and I’ll vote for him if he’s the nominee (after all, anybody could do a better job than the Dems who are running). That being said, Cruz is my man, and has been all along. I’m proud to have helped vote him into the senate. I’m ready for a one term, balls-to-the-wall Cruz presidency, followed by him being appointed chief justice of the supreme court in his early fifties (so that we have him there for many, many years).
I know this wont go over well with FR Cruz fans, but I have some real problems with him. He attempts to come across as the champion of the middle class, but I see him as nothing more than the champion of Ted Cruz. Here are some facts that give me pause for concern: 1. He is a Harvard educated Attorney. 2. His wife is a Goldman Sachs Analyst and 3. His biggest donors are Trial Lawyers. If that isn’t enough to question his motives, I don’t know what is.
You aren’t being realistic - Cruz isn’t accomplishing much in the Senate - he has tried, but to no avail. He can’t get anyone to back him up. That isn’t leadership, IMO. Once he has been VP, he stands a much better chance of becoming president. Think long term - that’s what I’m doing.
Cruz will never get the cross over voters. Yes, he is probably the most conservative candidate, but this is an entirely different cycle we are in. He’ll do great as VP.
Ill take him running the Senate.. To bad none of the Rinos
would support him there either.

I suspect you maybe correct. What goes on behind the closed doors doesn’t
get into the public in full detail. But I suspect Cruz doesn’t pull any
punches and thus he may not be the favorite amongst some of the senators.
I will vote for the Republican who gets the nomination, if it’s Trump I will vote for him. The one I want is Cruz and if you think he is a mush mouth you must not have heard him speak. He is a straight arrow and he tells it like it is. He will return the rule of law to our country, I am not sure what Trump would do.
May not be a favorite among SOME of the Senators? He has alienated ALL of the Senators. He tried to get recognized on the floor the other day and couldn’t get a “second” to talk from both the Republican and Democrat sides. He is universally loathed by both sides in the Senate and th8s has rendered himself as totally ineffective in that body.
His biggest donors are Trial Lawyers.

Question if you know the answer.
Is that donor indication from past efforts or
current attempt? Thanks.
I fully believe that Trump is now in it to win it and Cruz may be his Veep choice.
