Whole Foods will stop selling products made using a prison labor program after a protest at one of its stores in Texas.
The company said the products should be out of its stores by April 2016, if not sooner. Whole Foods said it has sold tilapia, trout and goat cheese produced through a Colorado inmate program at some stores since at least 2011.
Michael Silverman, a Whole Foods spokesman, said the company had sourced the products because the program was a way to "help people get back on their feet and eventually become contributing members of society."

Exactly. I wonder how many of those inmates have aids, hepatitis and other diseases?
They are probably really hard to milk. That's why they gave the job to prisoners, who have a lot of time on their hands.
Whole Foods is where I walk through but can’t afford to buy anything.
Sorry you mentioned that.
Look up Typhoid Mary.
Scales of justice and all that.
Stop buying the stuff and throw the prisoners out of work. Yeah, that’s really gonna help those guys.
What if it is a free range convict?
Mary Mallon (September 23, 1869 November 11, 1938), better known as Typhoid Mary, was the first person in the United States identified as an asymptomatic carrier of the pathogen associated with typhoid fever. She was presumed to have infected 51 people, three of whom died, over the course of her career as a cook.[1] She was twice forcibly isolated by public health authorities and died after a total of nearly three decades in isolation.

OOOOOO ... K.
Sorry for the out of control post.
Maybe Typhoid Mary’s spirit had something to do with that.
Hit Abuse and ask the mods to get rid of them.
Usually the best way to handle an unwanted post.
Make the companies pay minimum wage, with most of the money going to help reimburse the cost of incarceration. That way it’s not unfair to competing businesses.
I'll take my chances with the prison labor.
You should have sized the image down.
In response to the other comments, just replace prisoners and convicts with Mexicans and see if it changes how you feel about those tomatoes and broccoli down at the local supermarket.

As I type, I have a jar of Welch’s Concord Grape Jelly in front of me. On the label, in large, bold print, are the words, “100% North American grown”.
The folks at Welch’s are well aware that many people, maybe even most people, are unaware that Mexico is also in “North America”, I’ve seen F.R. members who didn’t know that simple fact.
if you knew what Tilapia ate, you wouldn’t ever eat farm raised tilapia....
