Passing tougher laws to help prevent gun violence remains a high priority for President Obama, the White House said Thursday after reports of a mass shooting resulting in multiple casualties.
“The issue of sensible steps that can be taken to protect our communities from gun violence continues to be a top priority of this administration,” press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters.
Up to 10 people were killed at shooting at a community college in Oregon, according to reports.
Obama was briefed on the shooting by homeland security adviser Lisa Monaco and will receive updates throughout the day, according to a White House official.
Earnest said the “vast majority of Americans” support stricter gun laws, including closing the so-called gun-show loophole. But he said Obama is “realistic” about the dim prospects of congressional action on gun control.

So, without knowing any facts about the incident, Mr Obama knows for sure that whatever incremental assault on our God given constitutionally protected right to self defense tools he was planning and touting yesterday are now desperately needed despite having no logical connection to whatever the crime will turn out to be.

OK, if they want tougher gun laws, lets start with the first one. I propose the Second Amendment be amended, to have “and any attempt to do so shall be punishable by death.” appended to the text.
IMHO, these mass shootings at schools would stop in a heartbeat if it be known that some of the teachers in every school in the country were well trained shooters, and it were know that several of the personnel in each school were armed.
