WASHINGTON With only hours to spare on the last day of the fiscal year, Congress approved a temporary spending measure to avert a shutdown and keep the federal government operating through Dec. 11.
In the House, the measure was approved only because of strong support by Democrats a sign of just how angry rank-and-file Republicans remain over their powerlessness to force policy changes on the Obama administration.
In one last display of their fury, House Republicans on Tuesday adopted another resolution to cut off government financing to Planned Parenthood. The resolution was to be sent to the Senate, where Democrats were certain to block it.

The blood of these babies is now on their heads. But they are continuing to shove it down our throats and force the rest of us to eat the bill for it.
The slimy bastards.
When is "enough" enough? Isn't it about time to do something serious about all this "legal" murder and get some rope?
How many times have we tried to tell these folks?
Maybe the RNC can sell baby parts to augment their other fundraising efforts.
And the Sesame Street broken glass republicans still can't figure it out......."Today's duplicity is brought to you by the letter R"
“Everyone gets to go home and say I fought against Planned Parenthood when they all had counted the votes ahead of time, and think they can fool the bitter clingers back home again.”

Early on in his great speech form a few days ago, Cruz talks about the three types of votes.
Number 1 was show votes. They don’t do anything, but the congressman can go back home and say “Hey - I voted against it, but jeez, we just didn’t have the votes.”
2) Votes to increase gov’t spending and get pork to everyone’s pet project. Those all get yes votes.
3) Must pass votes. And all obama has to do is threaten to veto the bill and shut down the government. So anything that furthers obama’s agenda is a “must pass” bill. And the Rinos vote for it.
Keep in mind how it works. Just enough Repubs cross over to vote with the Dems and pass or defeat a measure as required. The rest can then vote their supposed consciences which protects them at election time. They can switch around as needed so they can all show high “conservative ratings” as they take turns betraying you.
Thats the whole point of a “show vote”, to protect your conservative rating.
McCain, for example, has made a career of this.
I must admit that God allowing this to continue shakes my faith.
The only way to get rid of the republican party is to stop voting for republicans.
No, Norm! I think we said get Pelosi and Reid outta there and we'll do great. Same results, though. So, I think you're only partially (mostly) correct.
More from Cruz’s GREAT speech:
An excerpt. (If anything, skip to the last few paragraphs).
And I’ll note where this deal is headed. In December, when this dirty continuing resolution expires, leadership is already foreshadowing they plan to bust the budget caps. Why? We talked about it at the beginning. Barack Obama has discovered, he says the word shutdown, and Republican leadership screams, surrenders and runs to the hills. So Obama, understanding that quite well, says, If you don’t bust the budget caps, I’ll shut the government down. And Republicans, in this bizarre process, Republican leadership will blame whatever Obama does on other Republicans. You noticed how much energy Leader McConnell devotes to attacking conservatives? You notice how much energy Speaker Boehner devotes to attacking conservatives?.....
You know, one of the dynamics, Mr. President, we’ve seen in fight after fight is Harry Reid and the Democrats sit back and laugh. Why? Because it’s Republican leadership that leads the onslaught, attacking conservatives saying, No, you cant and we won’t do anything to stop Obamacare. No, you can’t and we won’t do anything to stop Planned Parenthood. No, you can’t and we won’t do anything to stop Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. If Republican leadership really believes we can accomplish nothing, then why does it matter if you have a Republican House or Senate? Every two years come October, November, we tell the voters it matters intensely. To paraphrase the immortal words of Hillary Clinton, what difference does it make? if the standard for Republican leadership is anything that gets 67 votes, we’ll support. That means Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi remain the de facto leaders of the Senate and the House.
And I would note, by the way, if in December leadership goes through with their promise, or not promisebut suggestion to bust the budget caps, they will have done something astonishing. Historically, the three legs of the conservative stool have been fiscal conservatives, social conservatives, national security conservatives. Between Planned Parenthood, Iran, and the budget caps, leadership will have managed to abandon all three. No wonder the American people are frustrated. No wonder the American people do not understand why leadership isn’t listening to them.
[I believe Cruz timed that last sentence perfectly for a bit of theater to close out his speech. The President of the Senate, at the end of that sentence tapped his gavel and said “times up”.}
I ask unanimous consent that my time be extended.”
[After some quiet discussion at the head of the Senate, Cruz is denied the time extension. With a somewhat sad and resigned face Cruz replies:]
“The Democrats are objecting to my speaking further...[dramatic pause]...and both the Democrats and Republican leadership are objecting to the American people speaking further. I yield the floor.”

But these votes don’t matter.
The key vote was on the rule which only 3 Rs voted against.
This was the price of Boehner’s resignation.
We’ll be lucky if it doesn’t cost us much more.
Yep. GOP traitors caved in yet again. I wanted to see the government shut down, and I work for the government!
I read that he voted for this steaming pile of BS! Seems to me that his yes vote should disqualify him for Speaker of the House. Which, of course, means he’ll win by a landslide. :-(
The rule vote was the key but it’s interesting to see how the various Leadership candidates voted.
YES Votes:
McCarthy
Scalise
McHenry
NO Votes:
Tom Price
Sessions
Webster
“If I don’t get my way, I’m going to shut down the government and YOU will be blamed for it.”

Notable House GOP votes on the CR:
YES Votes:

151 Republicans voted against it. Democrats banded together to pass it over the GOP.
Do we still want McCarthy as out Speaker?
His best friends appear to be Pelosi and the Democrat band.
“We” probably don’t but the Republicans do. So he probably be the Speaker.
We’ll be back at square one in about ten weeks.
Yes, Ted Cruz laid it out in clear terms about the Kabuki theater the Senate engages in constantly.
Yep. I’m torn between the slim hope that a Cruz presidency holds and not caring what happens to this wicked nation. When Iran does nuke America, I hope it just nukes the bad parts.
Amen.We counted on them.
