First, Friday’s are volatile if you follow these ratings - which I do. Second, Pope coverage very well affect the ratings. Liberal pope = liberal networks do better. Even if you don’t buy that, big one time events always benefit CNN.
Just the same. On Friday the 25th Kelly had 2.016 million viewers. On the previous Friday, September 18th she had 2.206 million viewers. That is a drop of about 200k, nowhere near 500k - and again, unusual events like a Pope visit will temporarily skew ratings. CNN, for example, tends to soar when something like an airplane disappears, but then fade away when nothing big or unusual is happening.
The idea that Trump’s “boycott” cost Fox 500,000 viewers is utter nonsense. Probably something the poster read somewhere and had no evidence to back up. Second, you would need to see this over period of days or weeks, not one Friday night.
