Russian Media Abuzz With Anticipation of Putin's UN Speech

By The Associated Press

MOSCOW — Sep 28, 2015, 9:05 AM ET

Russian media are abuzz with anticipation of President Vladimir Putin's speech at the UN.

Putin is in the United States for the first time since Russia annexed Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula in March 2014 and threw its support behind separatist rebels in Ukraine. What is more, Russia's recent military buildup in Syria has raised concern in the West about Putin's future steps there.

A state-owned news channel has run a countdown to the opening of the UN General Assembly on its screen all day Monday. Another Russian television channel, Ren-TV, said Monday that Putin is "preparing a speech that will change the world."

You said “my dictator” and as an American I assume you mean Obama.

Putin still wants Assads troops to assist in attacking ISIS and ISIL.......

US opposes this because if Assad does join then deposing Assad, which the US wants to do, goes down the tubes.

The Third Rome

Those in the US State Department MUST understand what that means.

The long term goal for Russia is to return to Constantinople. They have been trying to do so for hundreds of years. They now have the Turks encircled.

Expect some cross border raids chasing IS soon (which has been hiding in the hinterlands of Turkey).

I heard McCain on Trump’s idea that what do we should welcome Russia’s help in defeating ISIS. He said sure, Russia is horrible, they tyrants, and more stuff, but never answered if we should welcome their help or not.

ISIS is obviously a western creation to overthrow Syria, and Putin should show proof.

I don’t think Russia is going to conquer the world. But it will throw out Obama’s plans for the world.

You are so full of discarded human waste material! Obama and your pal KGB/FSB Putin share the same basic "new international order" goals: Significantly weaker US, stronger Russia and China. Why else is he bending over backwards to them on missile defense and nukes, while, at the same time, practically dismantling our own (the US's) defenses??

...”he just accused the west of helping train these jihadists on the sly”...

That’s right though....ended up we even left weapons for Alqaida recently and admitted by the Military generals.

Israel is trying to cosy up to the Russians. They have a long history together, and have a large Russian population.

Might work, might not. Either way the US just lost the Great Game.

If Obama shared the same world view as Putin then there would be no ISIS trying to overthrow Assad. Obama bows to the Suadis.

Russia Is Building A Massive Military Base On Ukrainian Border

The Daily Caller ^ | September 10, 2015 | Reuters

Russia is building a military base along the Ukrainian border, signaling its preparing for long-term support of the pro-Russian separatists fighting for Ukraine. The massive base - scheduled for completion in April - will house ammunition depots and barracks for several thousand soldiers, and will be used to train soldiers, reported Reuters. The Reuters reporter investigating the new base was temporarily detained and accused of being a Ukrainian spy. Russian officials didn't respond to Reuters questions about the purpose of the base and whether it's connected to the fight for Ukraine. ..."

Russia Plans Second Big Military Base Near Ukrainian Border
Reuters, via freebeacon.com ^ | September 23, 2015 | Anton Zverev

BOGUCHAR, Russia (Reuters) – Russia is planning a second major military base near the border with Ukraine, where NATO accuses Russian troops of helping pro-Moscow separatists fight Kiev’s forces.

The new base will house 5,000 soldiers and heavy weaponry, according to public documents and people working at the site.

It is further east than one under construction in Belgorod region reported by Reuters earlier this month but still close to the border with separatist-held parts of Ukraine’s eastern Luhansk region, where there has been heavy fighting.

The bases are part of a Russian military buildup along a new line of confrontation with the West, running from the Black Sea in the south to the Baltic in the north, which carries echoes of the Cold War-era “Iron Curtain”.

Russia has also increased its military presence in Syria.

Yushchenko, hero of Ukraine’s Orange Revolution warns Europe that Putin won’t stop at Crimea

by Matthew Schofield - McClatchy Foreign Staff
March 27, 2014

Many Ukrainians believe you need look no further than the face of Viktor Yushchenko to understand Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

Once smooth and ruggedly handsome, it still bears the scars from an assassination attempt when someone slipped dioxin into Yushchenko’s food. ...”

Yushchenko: Russia blocking poisoning probe
by Bonnie Malkin and agencies, September 12, 2007

"Mr Yushchenko, a pro-European politician who wanted to bring his country [The Ukraine] out of Russia's shadow, fell seriously ill on September 6, 2004 as he was competing in presidential elections against a pro-Moscow candidate, Viktor Yanukovich, now [2007] prime minister.

After months of tests in an Austrian clinic, it was determined that he had ingested a massive amount of the poison dioxin.

Although he survived, his face was left bloated and pockmarked, and he has had to undergo regular treatment to rid his body of the toxin.

In an interview with Le Figaro he said he believed the dioxin used to disfigure him was made in a Russian lab.

Mr Yushchenko did not directly accuse the Russian government of being behind his poisoning, but he did say he had 'practically put all the pieces together' and the attempt against him 'was not a private action'. ..."

Russia is playing chess. The US is playing tiddly winks.

We used to have adults in the state department, we haven’t had any since at least Nixon.

I am not sure of Russia’s next move, but they are laying ground work for the next generation. Their long term strategic goals (as in the goals for the last 500 or so years!) are being lined up for the taking. They are behaving like Russia, not the USSR. Someone, somewhere, needs to go find James H. Billington and actually listen to him.

The US is trying to figure out how to get the Pope to ok gay marriage rather than look at the board and plan the next move.

We are not in a good situation.

If you heard Obama’s UN speech. Obama “talked” about Putin. Now Putin “talking” about Obama.

Apparently, they are to have a private meeting later today.

Russia Plans Second Big Military Base Near Ukrainian Border...

Well of course ETL....with Nato building bases throughout the European countries of late one would certainly expect Russia would protect their areas of influence as well.

...”Apparently, they are to have a private meeting later today”...

Yes, but it is not about Putin asking Obama permission as some news agencies are trying to frame this......if anything this is about how it will be framed to make it appear Obama matters.
