Will Carly Fiorina’s surge be undermined by her HP record?

In 2010, Fiorina's Senate campaign was severely undermined by a series of attack ads that emphasized her failure as a Hewlett-Packard CEO. Could this happen again?

Carly Fiorina is doing well in polls. As Donald Trump saw his support drastically diminish following the second GOP debate, the businesswoman swiftly rose to No. 2 with 15 percent of Republican support.

But critics are skeptical that her success will persist. The reason? Her dismal tenure as CEO of Hewlett-Packard from 1999 to 2005, during which 30,000 employees were laid off.

In 2010, Mrs. Fiorina ran for Senate in California, against Democratic incumbent Sen. Barbara Boxer. Leading up to the election, Fiorina was performing promisingly. Most polls showed she was within one or two points of Boxer, and some earlier ones even indicated she was ahead.

Then came the attack ads.

“Fiorina outsourced jobs to China. And while Californians lost their jobs, Fiorina tripled her salary, bought a million-dollar yacht, and five corporate jets,” the narrator in an ad released in mid-September of 2010 says of Fiorina’s legacy as CEO of the Fortune 500 tech company. Audio then cuts to a soundbite of Fiorina from a previous interview. “I’m proud of what I did at HP,” she says.

There is this out there.

I will be doing my own research on the little rags to riches story on MS. FIORINA for myself because I sure as hell can’t depend on the media whores to tell me the truth.

Ottomans ran a vigorous and cruel expansion program. After the defeat of WWI, Attaturk with his secular rather than Islamic government systematically improved the country. Now they are on an Islamic path again and it is not helping them. Regarding Fiorina’s success/failure at HP, the point has been made elsewhere that she started just when the big .com bubble burst. She managed the survival of the company through strong cost cutting including firing many. I would like to hear her program for increasing countrywide employment levels.

Hi Jimbo123,

I’d appreciate a link to the so-called “speech” by Fiorina that appears to glorify ancient Muslims.

I’m afraid that all we have here is a “report” from an anonymous “reporter” of a speech given at an undisclosed location on an undisclosed date.

Hmmmm...

So much secrecy! I’m inclined to think that THIS “hit piece” was launched by Hillary.

Hillary is NOT the candidate I am working to elect.

Here’s Carly’s “I Love Muslims” speech that she gave right after 9/11.

Stopped reading right there. If your hit piece has to start with a lie, I say, "Life is too short."

As I read it, Donald Trump, Carly Fiorina and I are in favor of sealing the border.

I think we can accomplish this without labeling ALL illegals as “rapists” and “drug-runners”. Really, how does “name-calling” help us achieve our goal?

It is not important to me to deport illegals who are, in fact, assimilating.

On the other hand, I insist that any illegal who wants to destroy America must be deported, as soon as we catch him.

IMHO, figuring out the difference between these two types of people should not be too hard.

So I think Carly Fiorina is right. “Name-calling” will make that task harder.

Hi Jimbo,

Thanks for the link.

Frankly, I don’t see what’s so frightening in Fiorina’s fact-supported observation that the Muslim “civilization” flamed-out 400 years ago.

“Sharia”, like all freedom-sucking ideologies, caused that cultural rot.

It was in the 1700s that the Wahabi form of Islam had its “great teacher.” This came from the most backward uneducated area of Saudi Arabia, and it is being spread throughout the world in the Madrasa “schools” where I understand only the Koran is taught in Arabic, no matter what language is spoken in the local country. I believe that the Koran is the only thing taught in these schools. While this particular brand of Islam may be useful for training fanatics, it is certainly not doing the general intelligence/modern competence of Islamists any good, and should ultimately be their downfall as this article concludes.

Thanks for those links.

I think the Saudi royal family made a “deal with the devil” to buy off the Wahabis who captured Mecca several years ago.

The royals could “party on”, while their oil money would fund thousands of madrassas and spread “Wahabism” like a cancer.
