Syrian army uses new Russian jets to strike Islamic State: monitor

Syrian government forces used newly arrived Russian warplanes to bombard Islamic State insurgents in Aleppo province in northern Syria, a group monitoring the civil war said on Thursday, in an attempt to break a siege on a nearby air base.

Russia is bolstering its ally Damascus against rebels with military aid that U.S. officials say has included fighter jets, helicopter gunships, artillery and ground forces.

The air strikes, which began earlier this week, were accompanied by ground attacks near the Kweiris air base in the east of Aleppo province, where government troops have long been surrounded by Islamist militants, the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

“And a stepped-up expansionist mission to complete.”

True, although it is also a power vacuum that we have HANDED THEM - can’t blame them for stepping in.

Precisely what I've been saying has been Obama's agenda all along. As for not blaming them for stepping in to fill the vacuum, I agree, as long as not blaming them for filling in the vacuum isn't the same as supporting what they are doing.

Well, you called me out. I do actually support the Russians here as I think ANYONE in Syria is worse than Assad, particularly for Christians there that simply want to live out their lives.

Perhaps Hillary should have considered that before causing a half dozen wars that have left millions dead.

What about the 'bigger picture' of their general expansionist aims in eastern Europe. Are you supportive of that as well?

Naa, I don’t think Putin cares too much there and I certainly don’t support him moving back into the Baltic States or Eastern Europe. Ukraine is tougher to get my hands around - we practically dared him to move there.

Israel for it gas fields (they could just as easily become “Syrian” gas fields; US and or Israel if they try to take out Iran’s nukes (Russia has a lot of money and personnel invested there).

China may just be in for the practice and intel.

You say you don’t post pictures of Putin after you posted pictures of Putin. Just profess your love for him already.
