Numerous people here argued that "Netanyahu is now leader of the free world" and his beliefs are above our government's. They repeated argued we should do what HE wants and NOT what our Congress wants. Sorry you missed it. I will be happy to provide you with freeper's comments about how we must must answer to Netanyahu.
>> He was here to ask the Congress for help in protecting Israel from Iran, who is threatening them with nuclear annihilation. <<
Yep, he focused exclusively on foreign policy on Iran, and did not mention that rampant taxpayer funded abortion on demand and Arab immigration will turn his country into a majority Arab state by 2050. I agree wholehearted with Netanayu's views about Iran. And while I vehemently, 100% disagree with his government's domestic policies and far-left social liberalism, I didn't protest his speech because of that and attack the Isreali government and Jewish people for following him.
Likewise, the Pope focused on respect for the dignity and sacredness of human life, which is under grave threat from our government, and he focused on stewardship and goodwill of our planet, which is certainly under threat and which all people agree with (although many of us disagree that government "green" initiatives will solve that problem). I agree wholeheartedly with the Pope's views about the sanctity of human life. I vehemently disagree with the Pope's immigration and economic views, but I don't protest his speech because of that and attack the Catholic Church's government, or Catholics for caring about his speech.
Sadly, the same can't be said of other freepers.
I don't see a comparison at all between the two addresses to Congress.
The fact that a Pope does demand his flock answer to him is very different from a leader of a Democracy. The papacy does have the moral authority......therefore he is telling Americans to move left politically.
Naturally, on FR we believe leftwing policies are bad for America.
