Londons Imperial War Museum has removed an offensive exhibit branding Jewish soldiers who fought the Nazis during World War Two as terrorists.
The Simon Wiesenthal Center lodged its own formal complaint with the Museum following widespread outrage, after it was revealed that a display on the Jewish Brigade of the British Army was described as terrorist activities.
A poster of Jewish warriors was captioned: Terrorist activities: Men of the First Battalion Jewish Brigade during a march past; adding, The Jewish Brigade was formed in September 1944 and fought in Italy under the British Eighth Army. Many of its members went on to join the Hagana and other illegal formations.
The Hagana was the largest of several Jewish paramilitary groups which operated during the British occupation of Israel, known at the time as British Mandatory Palestine.

I guess the Warsaw Ghetto fighters were “terrorists” as well.
So. My best guess is that the director of the Imperial War Museum is a frigging Muslim.
Technically, they were. As were the Minutemen at Concord and beyond.
Personally, I’m glad they were.
As well as the French, Danish, Yugoslav, Greek, Dutch, and Norwegian resistance.
And apparently the U.K. was a partner in funding and supplying terrorism against the poor Nazis “victims”.

The current director is Diane Lees. Her prior job was director of the Victoria & Albert Museum of Childhood.
If the standard is resisting the UK after Germany was defeated, yes, those few survivors would be terrorists to the Brits. Heck, our founders were terrorists by that standard too.
I was discussing the movie Fury with a liberal acquaintance. She defended the nazi’s saying if someone invaded my country I would fight too.
They were mere individuals who dared defy The State, after all.
I am sure someone can twist Romans 13 to condemn the resistance of the Warsaw Ghetto Jews, or giving to the State everything it demands without reservation.
Terrorism is a tactic of instilling fear, especially of a population. The Concord militia were defending the potential stealing of powder and weapons by the Brits. They don't seem equal in any way.
The British history of anti-Jewish thinking and action is pretty damning. I don’t understand it, though I can accept that some part of it stems from the activities of the Haganah against the Brits in 1947 or so in the Palestinian mandate. Though the sentiment long precedes that era. The Brits apparently think they’ll be so much better off with a self-inflicted Islamic invasion versus the mere presence of Jews who never meant them the slightest harm (except when those Jews were in Pre-Israel Palestine) Meanwhile, the death toll at Gallipoli at the hands of the Turks (not really the Turks “fault”, it was a blunderous campaign by the Brits) had a death toll easily 100 times higher.
They will sorely regret their choice by the time they figure it out.
Churchill was the exception, probably the most pro-Jewish politician Britain ever had.
A terrorist’s primary intent is to elicit fear by killing defenseless civilians. The vast majority of our nation’s founders don’t meet that definition.
The museum is partly correct.
The men in 1944 were fighting in a legitimate army.
Those who fought post 1945 in either the Stern or Lehi WERE terrorists. Those two groups were terrorist gangs and committed acts of bombing, murder and torture against British, Arab and Jewish people.
Here we go.
Firstly, the UK has a far better record re anti-Semitism than mainland Europe. What antisemitism there has been has been generally confined to the fringes of the upper class or the knuckle dragging neo-Nazi lower class. It has NEVER been a prejudice of the majority of British. In fact, Britain from the 19th C to today has openly REJECTED the over anti-Semitism of groups from Mosley’s Blackshirts to the BNP. Not to mention NO history of antisemitism in Scotland, Wales and NI. Quite the opposite.
The Jewish population of Great Britain lives happily without any major anti-semitism. In fact, Judaism is openly celebrated as a long standing and vibrant part of British culture. British TV ran Jewish documentaries across all five of its network channels last year.
Did America?.
British Jewish entertainers, writers, politicians and businesspeople openly celebrate their Jewishness. The London East End Jew, with his sharp wit and mouth is as well loved and known a cultural icon as the Glaswegian or the Cockney.
The current British Prime Minister is part Jewish. As was the recently departed Leader of the Opposition. And the deputy PM. So you had/have Jewish-descended people in the three most important political positions in the UK.
Are Obama, Biden and Romney Jewish?......
The British people. Who are no more antisemitic than their American cousins. A fact, in fact, as the UK and US are two of the LEAST anti-Semitic nations on earth. I am quoting from the 2014 ADL global anti-Semitism study. The US was 7th, the UK 6th!. So very slightly less antisemitic than America, lol.
The UK is the nation that rejected the naked antisemitism of the 1930s Fascists, and continues to reject the antisemitism of the BNP and other fringe neo-nazi parties and groups. The nation that stood alone against Hitler, while America and others stood by. And the nation that liberated Belsen and saved Jewish lives.
And despite the murder and in one infamous case torture of British soldiers in Palestine 1944-48, the British people remained remarkably restrained towards Jewish people in the UK and Palestine at that time. In fact that ‘war’ has now been almost forgotten in the UK.
To suggest that the British people are antisemitic OR that the jews of Britain are victims of mass cultural or physical antisemitism is a downright and disgusting lie.
After all, Leo Frank wasn’t a British Jew.
If you know the history of 1944-48 in Palestine, you will understand why the museum made the statement. There seems to be a complete unwillingness in the US for people to admit that Jewish terrorist groups existed at a time in history and committed acts people regarded and would regard as terrorism. I don’t know why.
I was just at the Imperial War Museum in London back in May...to me, it left much to be desired. Overall, most of the exhibits were underwhelming.
Ironically, on the first floor of the IWM is a utterly smashed up car from Iraq that was shattered in a car bombing (VBIED), which killed about 80 people —now that was the one exhibit that really did show what real terrorists are all about.
The Americans in 1776 were a legitimate army fighting by codes of war. The Jewish groups in Palestine 1944-48 were not.
