“What I’m wondering is if you’re impressed with the potential of Jimmy Fallon as a late-night host. “

Oh, there’s no doubt he’s talented. He’s likable. But I’m the wrong guy to ask. I tuned in one night to what I thought was a news program, but it had an audience and the audience was laughing. It got my attention, because it was a news program with an audience and, here’s the important bit, nothing the news reader said was funny. Periodically, the reader would break the (fifth window?) and look at the camera. I quickly realized it was a late night “comedy” program. I watched for a few minutes, perplexed at the laughter for stuff that wasn’t in the least bit funny. That’s when I noticed applause for agreement rather than laughter.

Incidentally, you might think perhaps I don’t have a sense of humor. Maybe you’re right. But I have written seven novels with the intention they’d be funny and therefore enjoyable.

That's what I was curious about. The impression of someone who doesn't like the late-night talk zoo. I don't like it either, after Letterman, Leno, and Stewart....couldn't even be in the same room when they were on..

All I wanted to know is if you saw any potential in Jimmy Fallon. I see him as having potential, and some sparks of Johnny Carson caliber humor and class.
