Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday he will push a short-term spending bill that funds the government through Dec. 11 and redirects Planned Parenthood funding to other health centers amid controversy over the organization’s abortion practice.

Mr. McConnell, Kentucky Republican, set up a procedural vote on the measure for Thursday, or after Congress hears from Pope Francis in a joint session, although Democrats will likely block the GOP bid.

“I know Democrats have already blocked virtually every bill to fund the government this year, but I’m asking them to allow the Senate to fund the government now,” Mr. McConnell said.

OK politically savvy FReepers, why do the 'rats have so much sway on the Senate's voting if they're the minority?

I just can't keep up with all the "deals" they make anymore.

The EXEMPT GOP is complicit,
with McConnell and Boehner their Queens,
submissive absolutely to their Moslem King.

Why December 11? Hoping Santa has a few spines in his bag? With everything the Republicans are going to cave on in December, it will be one heck of a Christmas for the socialists... Err, I mean Democrats.

One reason—we have a turtle as majority leader, a buffoon by all connotations of the word.

Does anybody know the whereabouts of McConnell’s testicles? Did he do a Bruce Jenner? Castrated is no way to govern.

“Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said”

Bull! The Senate “Leader” is still Reid. McConnell is a wooden puppet on strings that dances any dance Reid wants.

Why don’t they just be honest and hand Obama a signed, blank check for the remainder of his term. They don’t intend to do jack, why keep playing these stupid, useless games?! Just drive the knife into our backs and be done with it!

Because the GOP set it up that way so that they wouldn’t actually have to do anything or stand for anything or fight for anything.

They simply do not want to.

It’s the same reason that they pretend to be so scared of a government shutdown, because in putting that above everything else, it absolves them of have to take any action at all other than steady as she goes.

What’s even more interesting is why couldn’t the Republicans block any liberal legislation when they were the minority. When you have a group of people who are ineffective in the minority and even more ineffective when they are the majority, you really have to think twice about their competence . . . or their sincerity.

I did not know the Senate did the funding of the Government.

I thought the House did this.

Are they trying to vote on something the House passed?

“I did not know the Senate did the funding of the Government.”

You are correct. Mitch apparently didn’t read the Constitution or the Federalist Papers in law school or college. Boehner, Mitch, and all GOP members of Congress should pull out the Federalist Papers and read some of James Madison’s writings so they understand what they area supposed to be doing.

James Madison - Federalist Number 58 - “The House of Representatives cannot only refuse, but they alone can propose the supplies requisite for the support of the government. They, in a word, hold the purse—that powerful instrument by which we behold, in the history of the British Constitution, an infant and humble representation of the people gradually enlarging the sphere of its activity and importance, and finally reducing, as far as it seems to have wished, all the overgrown prerogatives of the other branches of government. This power over the purse may, in fact, be regarded as the most complete and effectual weapon with which any constitution can arm the immediate representatives of the people, for obtaining a redress of every grievance, and for carrying into effect every just and salutary measure.”

See there again, the House of Representatives is not representing us.

Shut the Government down.

We do not need them.

They waste our money and we can just pay our taxes to the State and live within the State.

Secede Texas and stand Big and Tall as your own Republic once again
