Two New York legislators are launching a campaign to designate the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village as the first national park site honoring LGBT history.
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and U.S. Rep. Jerrold Nadler are making their announcement in front of the tavern that was the scene of a 1969 uprising that was a key moment for the nascent gay rights movement.

The bar was run by the mafia and for regulatory reasons was terchnically a “bottle club” not really a BAR, which meant they had much fewer inspections, didnt have to have an emergency escape at the time, many other things.

I think the Stonewall Inn would look good under grass .... few trees .... weeds ..... rattlesnakes. Copperheads, too -- they're very colorful -- and weasels. And shrews. And rats. Mostly rats. For the weasels to eat.
