Donald Trump on Saturday responded to a question from CNN about whether Muslims pose a danger to the country, saying: "I love the Muslims. I think they're great people."
The Republican presidential front-runner made the comment after addressing high school students here at their homecoming Saturday night.
During a question-and-answer session with students, Trump was unable to avoid being asked about the latest political controversy dogging his campaign: his decision not to correct a supporter this week who called President Barack Obama a Muslim.
One student told Trump that she considered Muslim-Americans to be an important segment of the country. They asked whether the billionaire businessman would consider putting a Muslim in his Cabinet or on his ticket.
"Oh, absolutely," Trump responded. "No problem with that."

He was talking to high school students - he will answer the questions the way he answers. I find it hilarious that so many think they have the right answers to questions - which turn out to be some of the dumbest things I’ve ever read.
And what are the chances of Trump giving such an answer?
And using such words as freedom, liberty and the Constitution?
How about rights, freedom and Constitution?
All of those words are found, here....

Considering it and doing it are 2 different things. He might consider it for all of 3 seconds - then dismiss the idea.
I have heard him plenty of times, when he is not fending off incoming hornets’ nests.
"No, I would not put a Muslim in my cabinet" is the end of the candidacy, and the reality is that there are qualified Americans who are Muslim, love this country, and disagree with the destroy-all-but-Islam interpretation of the Koran. Frankly, I do not understand how one can interpret that book as anything but violent, and in my opinion, Muhammed was a purely political figure and a destructive one.
I'm open to debate on this, but I don't see any other answer. There are Muslims who detest what's being done in Islam's name. Not enough of them, and not loudly enough, and in my opinion it's a very sick religion right now, and perhaps can be nothing other than that as a whole because of it's foundations.
But if you disagree, what would your answer have been? Is it necessarily pandering to answer that way? I'm not so sure.
Perhaps his polls slide as a result. I doubt they will. Any other answer would have ended his polls.
The question that was asked requires a much longer answer than he could possibly have given. If this were a business deal, he could have said so. But ... it's politics. Trump will have to act like a politician sometimes. Reagan did too.
Good lord, since when is the Constitution politically incorrect?
Since when does Trump pull his political punches?
And since when on FreeRepublic is a person called a political moron because they want their politicians to cite the Constitution?
You Catsrus are just a moron. Period.
Not Trump, Mmogamer’s muslin cigar store owner.
Is there a link yet? The people who were suppose to carry didn’t
Consistent with many of his other views.
They don’t because they are political morons - as I said earlier. If he said half the things people think he should say - he’d be finished.
Until sharia comes.
Can anyone do a Lexus/Nexus search to see if that phrase has ever been in a article about Hillary...EVER?

He's simply protecting himself from creating an OBVIOUS opening for LEFTIST LIBERALS to immediately pulverize him for being ANTI-MUSLIM.
Trump is wise and chooses the prudent approach.
I don’t love Muslims. They’re extreme and they hate America. They’re not part of the American family.
Trump wants to keeps out Hispanics but they don’t hate us but he wants us to love Muslims who do.
Here’s he’s out-doing Hillary in Islamo-pandering. I’m sick of it.
Where does it say in the Constitution that a Muslim can’t be part of the United States or in government either? No, you are one stupid person. I suspect you are a Cruz supporter - because of your mention of the Constitution - that’s all well and good - but, some of you have gone off the deep end over this. Give me the part of the Constitution that says that Trump can’t hire a Muslim? I’m waiting................
