$500 per plate might be a lot depending on how many people showed up. They usually try to get the attendees to open their checkbooks for additional donations too.

Can you explain what it would have been that Jeb Bush would have needed to do here. What is Florida statute about the matter. Does it prescribe a process that needs the governor’s assent?

If you have info to the contrary please post it.

Can you please answer the more substantive question. Suppose in some fantasy Trump could have bought and sold Jeb with such a dinner (remember Trump was not GOP at the time) what good would have have done Trump? At best a good word on a referendum or something like that, which legally means exactly zero?

From what I can dig up - I haven’t researched it in depth - but there were casinos built in Florida - on the Indian Reservation. Trump pulled out of the deal and I guess his protege closed the deal with the Indians = who later bought him out. There is a lot more to the story, but I can’t remember everything right now.
