What this kid did was testing the waters.
That’s a clock. Maybe you need to take apart some more clocks. That’s how the guts of your basic Target/ WalMart $20 digital alarm clock look when you take it out of the shell. You probably have one in your house, bust out with the Philips-head and take a look.
