Canadas government has lost an attempt to ban the practice of wearing face veils while swearing the oath of citizenship.
Zunera Ishaq is a 29-year-old woman with devout Muslim beliefs. She came to Canada from Pakistan in 2008 and refused to take part in a citizenship ceremony because she would have to remove her niqab.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper governments rule banning face coverings at such ceremonies was earlier found unlawful by the Federal Court.

Canada court allows women to wear veil for citizenship oath Good. I'm going to become a Canadian Woman then. I can dart back and forth across the border whenever I need to.
They don't dare tell me i'm not a woman, because that would be discriminatory.
God! Can we just beat them to death with baseball bats already?

So the oath means nothing, anyway.

Well, she is a moron first and foremost. Turning moslem after that is the natural route.

It's Canada. Gotta use something that looks like this.
To: Olog-hai
If they won’t show their face for taking the oath of citizenship — they obviously don’t intend to be loyal citizens.

It is not possible for a “devout muslim” to [honestly] swear allegiance to a non-muslim country.

Samuels: When the chick spots Kubacheck, she'll go into the dance of the seven veils.
Maxwell Smart: The seven veils, huh?
Samuels: If Kubacheck sits at table one, she'll take off one veil. If he's at table two she'll take off two veils and so on, through the tables, three, four...
Samuels, Maxwell Smart: ...five and six.
Maxwell Smart: Eh, what if he goes to table seven?
Samuels: The cops come in and close the place down.

Rather then muslim women covering themselves, so evil muslim men don’t have to look at them, perhaps muslim men should have their eyes put out.
To: BenLurkin
Agreed. If you won’t, then back to Pakistan.

Muslim beliefs do not require the covering of the face - can’t be found anywhere in the Koran. Strictly a cultural affectation. Not that I’d expect our Muslim-loving supreme court to understand that idea. As far as I’m concerned this should mean that anyone can wear anything they want, including over their face, to a citizenship ceremony, since it’s not the government’s place (apparently) to tell anyone what is or isn’t a legitimate aspect of their religious belief (whatever it might be). I should be able to wear a mask and say that it is a requirement of my religion - without any questioning of what my religious belief is - it is whatever I say it is.
