A Long Island womans insistence that she owns a BMW landed her in a psych ward at Harlem Hospital.
The doctors believed she was delusional and suffering from bipolar disorder but she was actually telling the truth, a lawsuit claims.
Kam Brocks frightening eight-day One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest ordeal at the mental facility included forced injections of powerful sedatives and demands she down doses of lithium, according to medical records obtained by PIX11 from her attorney.
Brock said it all started at a traffic light in Harlem after she was pulled over by an officer for allegedly driving without her hands on the steering wheel.
Brock said: "I was confused and did not know what was going on, why I was being taken into custody," Brock said. The officer said, 'why are you driving without your hands on the wheel?' I said I was dancing, I am at a light, he asked me to get out of the car.
The officer took Brock to the 30th Precinct but after a few hours she was released without any charges. However, she was told to come back the next day to get her car.
The lawsuit states police reacted in disbelief that Brock owned a BMW when she arrived at a substation to pick it up.
Brock said: "I told them I have a BMW they asked me what kind of car it was and from that moment they started looking at me differently like I could not have a BMW."
After a long wait, the bank executive claims she was placed in handcuffs and taken by EMS to Harlem Hospital. Then she was committed to a psych ward.

How can one dance while sitting in a car?
Hands up
Don’t Dance
Some cars you have to take off the entire fascia to change a light now.
With the Cadillac SRX, for example, you have to take off the entire front end of the car.
See immediately prior post.
And there isn’t really such a thing as a “light bulb” on those things. There are “assemblies” made with LEDs.
This isn’t like popping the trunk open on your father’s Oldsmobile and giving it the old lefty loosie.
There are women who Lap Dance for fun and profit. Ask them how it’s done.
Maybe she suffered an extreme reaction to being stopped by a cop. She may have gone ballistic, or hysterical.
I have sympathy for anyone locked away unjustly. Sometimes it really does happen. That would be truly terrifying and Kafkaesque.
The cops had no evidence that she worked for a governmental entity so their assumption she had no right to be in a BMW was rationally based.
Last September, Brock’s BMW was impounded by the NYPD because they thought she was high on marijuana, according to the New York Daily News.
Barack Obama actually doesn’t follow Brock on Twitter.
You see, @BarackObama isn’t Barack Obama. It’s Organizing For Action, the non-profit formed out of the remains of Obama’s 2012 campaign. OFA leases the Twitter account from the president’s campaign (which still exists as a legal entity). The organization uses the account clearly so that people will make the same assumption that Brock did, that it’s the voice of Barack Obama. And when a Barack Obama supporter sees a tweet from @BarackObama asking them to give money to OFA, they’re a lot more likely to do so than if they see a tweet from @OFA, the organization’s official (and much-less-followed) account.
In fact, there’s no way in which Obama could follow Brock on Twitter for the simple fact that Obama doesn’t use Twitter. In his interview with the Huffington Post, Obama admitted that he’s not on Twitter and then critiqued the vibe of the social media tool as “everything’s a crisis, everything is terrible, everything is doomsday, everything is — if it doesn’t get solved tomorrow, you know, your presidency is going off the rails.”
Tail lights on BMW’s are apparently not owner-serviceable. I do know a guy who owns one. Hell, I once owned a Hyundai where it was wedged so tight up against the firewall it was nearly impossible anyhow.
No, actually, quite a few still ship with actual bulbs in them. The current Cadillacs are a notorious example.
It’s less of an issue if they have an LED array that’s hard to get to but when they have old fashioned cheapass bulbs that burn out often and you have to take much of the car apart to change them... Yeah, that’s not so simple any more.
Obama follows me on Twitter to show her the type of person I am....Throw in a padded room, for society’s sake.
Obama following her on Twitter makes her a good person?
She really does need psychiatric care.
.
Really strange resemblance to an article earlier this year.
Same incident. These are just one year later stories.
She was from Long Island but she was in Harlem. She was driving a BMW and was dancing to her car radio when she caught the attention of a police officer.
He books her for driving without her hands on the wheel.
The next day she goes to get her car. They don’t believe she owns a BMW.
She gets sent for a psych evaluation. They don’t believe she owns a BMW. They don’t believe she is a bank executive. They don’t believe the President follows her on Twitter.
Hmmmm. Could she be black?
What do you know, there is still a lot of racism, and it infects the liberal urban strongholds more than the south.
There must be more to this story than is being told. If she’s holding her driver’s license with her picture on it in one hand and her insurance card and pink slip in the other hand, then what’s not to believe?
“...the bank executive ...”
No. She was a trainee to get a “personal banker license” at Astoria Bank. I cannot find out if she still works there, but she had worked at a couple of other banks.
“Kam Brock, 32, who is also known by her rapper stage name Akilah Brock...”
I’m curious as to why her license didn’t match up with her registration and insurance, if the cops checked that at all.
There’s something fishy on both sides, I think.
I always liked Dewy Cheatham & Howe.
