A former Chicago cop was in jail today, accused of threatening people involved in investigating the deadly shooting of a Fox Lake, Illinois, police officer.
On Friday, a man later identified as retired Chicago Police Officer Joseph Battaglia, blocked his number and called the Lake County Coroner’s Office, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said.
"The subject said he was a 'retired police officer' and threatened to harm all of the Task Force members, as well as all of the other investigators involved in the death investigation of Fox Lake Police Lieutenant [Charles Joseph] Gliniewicz," the Sheriff's Office said in a news release today. "These threats included Coroner Rudd and Coroner’s Office employees, unless all the involved personnel declare Gliniewicz’ death a suicide."

Well, if Gliniewicz committed suicide for whatever reason (e.g., Hastert-type problems), maybe the other officers wanted to cover it up (protect the family and pension). And this guy wants to expose the cover-up? Curiouser and curiouser...

A friend of mine knows some of the players and has friends in the police dept. At the service. they were talking the suicide angle but some things don’t add up. He was being questioned prior to his death.
Has to be something there if people were talking possible suicide. Anyone mention a suicide motive?
To be honest, I found this case to be a bit odd from the beginning.
Do you know why the police officer was being questioned, prior to his death?
I believe there was an investigation going on regarding the department. I think the chief had been being looked into. I do not know all the details. But, at the service, I guess the word suicide kept coming up. But, who knows?
Gliniewicz was a POS cop!
