An Analysis of Medicaid, cash, food, and housing programs
This report is a companion to a recent report published by the Center for Immigration Studies looking at welfare use by all immigrant households, based on Census Bureau data. This report separates legal and illegal immigrant households and estimates welfare use using the same Census Bureau data as that study. This analysis shows that legal immigrant households make extensive use of most welfare programs, while illegal immigrant households primarily benefit from food programs and Medicaid through their U.S.-born children. Low levels of education not legal status is the main reason immigrant welfare use is high.
Among the findings:
(selected)
Less-educated legal immigrants make extensive use of every type of welfare program, including cash, food, Medicaid, and housing.
The overwhelming majority of illegal immigrants have modest levels of education; therefore, the high use of welfare associated with less-educated legal immigrants indicates that legalization would likely increase welfare costs, particularly for cash and housing programs.

This is truncated because on the site there is a link to download the entire report. I do not see a copyright on this article, so it can probably be downloaded, reprinted, and distributed for educational purposes.
This study debunks the recent argument from illegal alien supporters that illegals pay taxes and aren't a drain on the social welfare system.
Yeah, they contribute more than they take. To me, this has never computed.
“Yeah, they contribute more than they take. To me, this has never computed.”
They’re natural born conservatives. At least that’s the crap some people used to sell right here on FR.
“Less-educated legal immigrants make extensive use of every type of welfare program, including cash, food, Medicaid, and housing.”........
Obviously they are smart enough to know how to use the system to their advantage, and we pay for that.
If not, there are people who are happy to run them through the sign-up process, and, thanks to the Motor Voter law, register them to vote.
They don’t have to vote, though. The Democrat precinct chiefs will take of that for them.
Welfare rats come to whomever feeds them in droves. Better yet, they are not dumb for they vote for anyone who feeds, houses, and provides a myriad of free services to them and soon there will be so many of them that they will actually outnumber the working class....if they don’t already do so.
Seeing how they spit out “free” babies like machine gun bullets and such babies have their own spawn starting at the average age of 13-17, the number will (as a minimum) double or triple on that cycle. It’s like the splitting of the atom...1, 2, 4, 16, 256, 65,536...and on and on.
It’s uncontrollable and that fact will soon be felt by our future generations along with the world’s population.
It’s gonna be a very dark future for your children of today, their children and worse yet for following generations.
FYI
“Obviously they are smart enough to know how to use the system to their advantage, and we pay for that.”
Our government actually has ‘outreach’ programs to get them enrolled.
In Texas, 52% of students are Hispanic, 29% White, 13% Black, 4% Asian/Pacific Island. 52%. Wrap your mind around that. Texas always has had a large percent of Hispanics with many of them being illegal, but there’s been a huge influx of illegals in the past 6-8 years.
New Mexico - 59% Hispanic and 26% White
Arizona - 43% Hispanic and 42% White
It’s not just that. Once upon a time I was an eligibility worker. The ‘clients’ as they’re called know the rules as well as any EW and also know all the loopholes. They all tend to live in the same areas so their knowledge about the system gets passed around pretty fast.
Once Texas goes, the GOP is finished.
Thanks. Steve did another great job. This is an update of his 2009 study.
The welfare secretary in our office quit just short of retirement because she couldn’t stand it that the “clients” (such a nice warm fuzzy term) were getting more in perks than her salary.
That is the plan and it's working very well.
