The Weather Channel says it is getting rid of its reality TV shows, along with morning shows led by Sam Champion and Al Roker.
The struggling network is looking to get back to its roots, with less expensive programming and a lineup that appeals more to weather geeks. An estimated 50 people out of The Weather Channel's staff of 1,400 are losing jobs as a result, the network said on Thursday.
The NBC Universal-owned network had lured Champion from ABC's "Good Morning America" to host "AMHQ," a weather-focused morning news program. Starting in early November, Champion will work on weather programming during the network's prime-time schedule, said Dave Shull, who oversees programming at The Weather Channel.

People watch the Weather Channel for just one reason:
THE WEATHER...
They don’t turn to the Weather Channel to watch political Globo’ Warmin’ scare stories, they don’t tune in to see prison shows or food shows, just the latest, up-to-date weather.
When they got away from that, they los half the audience.
Al Roker is just a symptom of the Weather Channel stupidly getting caught up in the cable TV programing craziness of the past 5 or 6 years, where programing executives didn’t believe there was a place for simple, basic stations that provided hard facts and information. So we got programs analyzing the weather that weren’t very distinguishable from Discover or National Geographic. And, of course, a lot of them had the PC Liberal spin that the World was coming to an end because people didn’t support spending a fortune of tax dollars on “Global Warming” or “save the animals” or whatever other trendy liberal movement was popular at the time.
No doubt the global warming crap hurt the Weather Channel,
but in reality the Weather Channel is as obsolete as Newspapers.
Why watch TWC when you can just go online and instantly find your local weather?
Maybe Weather Nation is eating into TWC’s viewership?
Weather Nation is what the Weather Channel USED to be!
The Weatherless Channel got so bad, it was completely unwatchable for, well, weather. Never had actual weather on when I wanted to see weather. And, then, when it was supposed to be weather, they would hype youtube videos and their communist points of view.
I cut the cord 3 weeks ago - haven’t missed it at all. I can watch Weather Nation on the internet or the local channel on the internet for real weather.
It’s about time.

1) More hot babes
2) In more revealing dresses
3) Cut the BS Global Warming propaganda
4) Stop giving absurd names to every winter weather system that drops 4 inches of snow.

GOOD!! No more Fat Guys in the Woods or Prospectors crap. Maybe they’ll get back to actually talking about WEATHER!!
