Trump himself is in favor of bringing back the “great ones” after he deports them and giving them legal status. It’s like I said in another thread, I appreciate his wanting to secure the border and I appreciate his wanting this nation to enforce its immigration laws. But I don’t know why he gets a pass on basically giving backdoor amnesty to however many he would give it to. I guess because he deals tough with the media and the establishment, so whatever gaping flaws and inconsistencies he has, we’ll ignore.

It’s hard for me to ignore.

But let's think about under what the terms will be for their return: first, they must leave, so instead of being stuck with them, they must go through a legal process that we can vet them wit; secondly, it'll be a meritocracy, not what we currently have, and also an American-First workers policy. Hence his desire to increase standards and to make sure that immigrants can certify their self-sufficiency here in the US so they do not get on the dole.

I don't really want them at all, but this is a far better plan that mass legalization of 30 to 40 million illegals, 90 percent of whom live far below the poverty line.

Yeah, it’s “better”.

But I don’t know if you’re being entirely accurate on Cruz’s position. Maybe I missed something, but it certainly doesn’t sound like what I’ve heard, that he favors “legalized status”.

Regardless, the thing about all of this is realistically I’m pretty sure even if elected Trump isn’t going to literally achieve deporting every single one of them.

I also think, and there’s some who obviously there are no defense for (like Jeb), but I think the whole issue itself has become such a trap for politicians to try to articulate a plan or an answer because the whole thing became a mess before a lot of them ever came on to the scene- like Cruz, even Rubio or Rand Paul.

I guess I’ll give Trump credit for talking about it in the boldest manner anyway.

He hasn't talked about it for awhile, but is rather disingenuous about it. You can find the details here:

http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2015/08/ted_cruz_vs_donald_trump_whos_stronger_on_immigration.html

How about 90 to 99 percent of them? We accomplished this under Ike and in a short amount of time-- and most of it was self-deportation after the great hunt started.

As for the whole thing is a "trap." Most Americans support Trump's plan and actually want to be tougher. The trap is in believing media lies that it's not tru.

It sounds like an over-and-back expedited amnesty for the ones that aren't rapists, and convicted criminals.

What's that, about 20 million of them?

Yes, I am not happy about this especially since most Muslim refugees are among the biggest sponges of human services. We can’t afford to keep taking people in. You would think from a business perspective Trump would “get” this! It’s bottom line.

The Syrian “refugee” problem is very recent, Trump needed some time to think it through. You just can’t have some reporter stick a microphone in your face and come up with the perfect answer right away. Trump has been very busy on the campaign trail and he isn’t a professional politician who has a team of campaign strategists to research every possible question that any reporter can ask him. Trump is spontaneous which is a good thing, he can think on his feet and it will be a good quality to have when he is president.

Many professional politicians are not as smart as they sound. They have been on the political team for ten or twenty years. They have worked their way up the political system from local to state government. They are picked by political “talent scouts”, introduced to all the right people and carefully groomed to say just the right thing to just the right group that you are talking to (like Jeb speaking in Spanish on Spanish tv).

When Trump becomes president he will have advisers but you can see that his strong sense of individuality will not let him become a sock puppet.

You can fit Europe into the Muslim lands many times. The Muslim world has lots of territory (that they stole from Christians). They do not need Europe.

You have identified the problem. I suspect 9 out of 10 Freepers could come up with an answer to that question, as could 9 of 10 posters at DU. Based on long standing opinions on similar topics. And tens of thousands of posts on FR aside, it's not a terrible thing to change ones mind. Even if you're Mitt Romney or John McCain or even Rudy Giuliani. But 180 degrees in 24 hours, from someone who claims strong opinions on immigration, I'm thinking political opportunism. Or the short attention span of reality TV. Giving Donald the benefit of the doubt, perhaps he doesn't have strong tested opinions on things like the WOT or immigration, so needed time to think. Though 24 hours isn't much for an issue of this magnitude. IMO he will need quality advisors long before the first primary. I want him thinking about these things, and developing a worldview long before November, 2016. strong sense of individuality , yes, most politicians are narcissists to a lesser or greater degree.

You would think that, though it's not limited to Muslim refugees, or even refugees.

Immigrant Welfare Addiction-It's not just illegal aliens who are the problem.

I am a Trump supporter and I am not a “bot”. That is an insulting and unnecessary term. I don’t know who you support but I would not call you a “bot” for supporting him or her. Let’s not go back to the 2008 and 2012 behavior it only results in angry people staying home and giving the election to the Democrats. Please no Hillary Clinton in the White House.

If Trump doesn’t win the primary I will support your candidate if he or she wins. Remember we are friends. :^)

I think their first names will usually give them away and then there are the women with the tablecloths on their heads. I think the head covering was just to say “Don’t rape me I’m a Muslim—rape her she is an infidel.”

I'd say “I will build a huge wall” is a pretty clear and obvious statement. I have been waiting for someone like Trump for twenty years since I have been following the illegal alien invasion for that amount of time and hoping against hope that someone would FINALLY take the side of the Americans. GEorge W, Bush was so double dealing with illegal immigration and so incredibly obstinate

I didn't call you a "bot". I didn't call all Trump supporters "bots".

I would call anybody who mindlessly supports any candidate (even my favorite candidate) AND who initiates name calling because somebody disagrees with them, a "bot".

Go back and reread what I wrote.

I would also add that at this point in time Trump is my second favorite candidate. (But don't tell anybody that) ;)

I’ve never understood why they are so tone death to the American people. Why do they insist on pushing things so harmful and repugnant to us? The money from the cheap labor crowd must be good.
