Will: Donald Trump is a malleable mess
Washington Post ^ | 10 Sep 15 | George Will

Posted on 09/10/2015 8:54:33 AM PDT by elhombrelibre

“I remember, when I was a child, being taken to the celebrated Barnum’s Circus, which contained an exhibition of freaks and monstrosities, but the exhibit on the program which I most desired to see was the one described as ‘The Boneless Wonder.’ My parents judged that that spectacle would be too revolting and demoralizing for my youthful eyes, and I have waited 50 years to see The Boneless Wonder sitting on the Treasury Bench.”

— Winston Churchill in the House of Commons, referring to Prime Minister Ramsay MacDonald, 1931

Donald Trump, whose promises are probably as malleable as his principles, promises to support the Republican nominee. Some of his rivals for the nomination, disoriented by their fear and envy of him, are making the GOP seem like the party of boneless wonders.

Some, who loudly lament how illegal immigrants damage the rule of law, have found a heroine in Kentucky. A county clerk, whose devotion to her faith is not stronger than her desire to keep her paycheck, chose jail rather than resignation when confronted with having to comply with the U.S. Supreme Court and the Constitution regarding same-sex marriage.

I understand that for the new conservatives embracing Trump that George Will is not a REAL conservative, like the Donald, but for people who were conservative when the left owned all of the media, George was with us. For dilettante philistine conservatives, non-Reagan types, this won't matter.

Yeah, Trump, johnny come lately for his own benefit, has the clue. Yet every time he’s asked a question he’s the angry dunce.

Will needs to keep pushing establishment. Because after this cycle it will be hung around his neck like Peggy Noonan for the rest of his career.

Strawman.

George Will has ALWAYS been an Establishment Republican elitist.

Further, he appears to be the appointed front man to diss Trump. I've seen four or five editorials out of him, all TDS.

What replaces it? What fills the void, a third party Trump run that gives liberals another four years to dominate us?

It’s amusing how these old DC establishment news pundits still believe what they say is relevant

I suppose if I were a millionaire elitist like Will, I might not care about the destruction of the US either.

George Will is on board The Cheap Labor Express, has been for years.

The only solution to the illegal alien inundation offered by these so-called “conservatives” is abandoning the rule of law and surrendering the country to fraudulently documented foreigners.

How can that be conservative?

so true....Will has gone to the dark side a bit, but his life long conservative accomplishments dwarf those of the candidate du jour.

George Will lost any good will he had when he decided to get on the Amnesty Express:

INGRAHAM: Do we care about American workers at all? And their jobs, and their wages and their dreams?

WILL: Laura, you’re the one who’s arguing the AFL-CIO argument, which is –

INGRAHAM: They’re for it!

WILL: No, but they’re for it with so many caveats they nullify it.

INGRAHAM: But why have borders?

WILL: You’re arguing the zero-sum game –

INGRAHAM: No.

WILL: When, in the lives of our children and grandchildren, there are 500 million Americans, they’re all going to be working! Because we’re gonna have economic dynamism, aided by immigration!

INGRAHAM: So the argument, though, leads to, ‘Why have borders at all?’ Why have a border if it’s just about people as widgets, who come in and are workers without really a concern about assimilation, without concern about how it affects people in middle America. I mean, a lot of people who are in favor of [immigration reform] don’t send their kids to public schools, are not affected by illegal immigration at all.

But I would submit that there are people who are watching this show right now who are screaming at the top of their lungs saying, ‘Who is Washington is representing my interests?’ The labor shortage argument that Paul Ryan is making, that we have an impending labor shortage — I think, transparently, it is ridiculous to most people, today. We don’t have participation in the workforce as it is!

WILL: It’s not a shortage. It’s growth we want!

Liberals WILL dominate for four more years.

Either liberals in the Democrat party, or liberals in the Republican party ,like Jeb or Kasich or Graham.

I'll take a chance on a wild card, with the setup we got.

This is all part of the media campaign to bring Trump down and whoever falls into this catagory is as stupid as the GOPee for even doing it...

GOPee knows that Trump is going to bring an end to their party, he has done almost that already...and with these ‘talking heads’ and msm’s, Trump is showing us how stupid they really are...

I have bought two books, The Trumps and Trump’s Deal book, I can’t wait to read them, (I have to finish my other book before I start on these) so when I get into them, I will be looking forward to see just how Trump really works...

Go Trump 2016!!! All the Way to the White House!!!

How appropriate for the Felix Unger of the pundit class to call Trump a “mess.” Will is really taking off the gloves with that insult.

Will was never, ever all with us. He strongly criticized Reagan for tax cuts and hated any of Reagan’s grass-roots support. He was only for Reagan on the Cold War. And, by the way, I didn’t like him back in the 80s.

Hey George, does your GOP operative wife chew your ear off every night about the problems Donald Trump is causing the Party? How about being transparent in your bias for once?
