I remember the news videos of the exit at the nightclub that caught fire because of the fireworks.
People were piled one on top of another with their heads out the door.
Somebody must have tripped, and everyone just fell on top of that person.
Exactly, if everyone did not panic and just walked out fast or run out fast without tripping perhaps more would have survived.
I remember that image, too bad the person who tripped was not helped up. To see people all stacked up like a pile of bodies is sad while half of them were being burned.
Many things went wrong that night at The Station. One issue was people tried to exit the way they entered and didn’t use the closest exit.
In my retail days we had a small fire. People tried to take their carts of groceries to the main doors sometimes getting closer to the fire. I took a position near the back of the store and sent as many nearby people to the one of the rear emergency exits. Idiots then didn’t want to open the door because of the “this door is alarmed” sign. A co-worker kicked it open in frustration and forced them out. Some complained we were were rude and made them exit out back and have to walk around the building to get to their car.
