Richard Nixon Wrote Donald Trump a Letter in 1987 Encouraging him to Run for Office

Donald Trump once received a letter encouraging him to run for president from the only man to have resigned from office: Richard Nixon.

I guess Tricky Dick and wife Pat saw something in Trump back in the 80s that many Americans are seeing for themselves today.

What’s kind of weird though, is that Nixon was a Republican, and when he sent this letter to “the Donald,” Trump was most certainly still a Democrat.

From IJ Review via NY Times:

On Dec. 21 of that year, Mr. Nixon, the former president, dashed off an admiring letter to the real estate developer, according to a new biography of Mr. Trump, “Never Enough,” by Michael D’Antonio.

Pat Nixon, the former first lady, had just caught Mr. Trump’s appearance on Donahue, the daytime talk show, in which Mr. Trump spoke of what ailed America and how to fix it.

The “dirt” being dug up on Trump is really hilarious.

I heard he had a detention in high school.

What's next? Are they going to claim that Ho Chi Minh used to be Trump's pen pal?

All these crazy stories are beginning to sound like stuff concocted by people who don't wish him well.

“...a letter encouraging him to run for president from the only man to have resigned from office...”

Three errors in one sentence fragment. Still, an interesting artifact.

Richard Nixon, the man vilified for doing no worse and probably less reprehensible things than other Presidents. Amazing that he is vilified for Vietnam when it is Kennedy that pushed us there and LBJ who buried us there, while his administration got us out, ugly as it was. How many American soldiers died because Kennedy and LBJ were to cheap to have chrome lined barrels in the M-16 rifles when they were first being manufactured?

And 2-3 years later, Trump stated the following and much more from the left.

Donald Trump on Health Care
We must have universal health care. (Jul 2000)

These libtards are idiots. If this is the best they’ve got, the MSM is in deep pathetic trouble. And back in HS, I even defended Nixon in a term paper as my moron classmates swallowed the liberal mantra about Watergate.

here’s a story. When Arnold Schwarzenegger went to America, he watched a debate between Nixon and his buffoon Dummycrat rival. Ahnold was stunned at how the Dem spoke like he was some socialist puppet. Nixon was talking about freedom and free economics. Arnold stated that he escaped socialist Austria and now he’s hearing a Dem talk like a dictator to him. That’s why he became a Pubbie’.

Hail, that thar's nothin!

Why, I 'member a time he stepped on a cat's tail. Yessir, a real cat.

That damned cat screamed so loud it toppled the cooling pies off the window sill, and momma came out a cursin' in the most wicked way, chasing us down the street until she wore herself out.

So you prefer your candidates to keep their thoughts to themselves until AFTER the election, like Paul Ryan and Mario Rubio.

How about they put all that research labor into finding out Barack's birthplace, HS transcripts (if any), college transcripts (if any), Law Review publications while in college (if any), remembrances from former college profs about Barack as a student (if any), remembrances from former college classmates (if any), remembrances from former roommates (if any)?

The man, apparently, didn't exist.

Tricky Dick?? These young cons are really historically ignorant aren’t they?
The worst thing Richard M. Nixon did had nothing to do with Watergate. HE is responsible for the EPA and all the damage to this country it has caused.
I think he was also the father of OSHA.
Still a smart complicated man after all these years.
