Ted Cruz cozies up to Donald Trump, aims for his supporters
Yahoo ^ | 9/8/15 | Bill Barrow

As other Republican presidential candidates go after Donald Trump, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is getting cozy with him. The two men are in a so-far cordial competition for many of the same anti-establishment conservatives, and they're about to share a stage.

One of 16 GOP candidates looking up at Trump in the polls, Cruz says the invitation was only to attract more attention to objections to the "catastrophic" deal...

"Wherever Donald goes, the media follow in droves." Any suggestion that the joint appearance has deeper meaning would be a "political horse game," he said.

Yet Cruz, the tea party hero who helped shut the federal government in 2013, needs the same frustrated voters who have pushed Trump to a surprising lead five months before primary voting begins. If it takes a shared stage to convince those conservatives that he should be their choice, so be it....

"An awful lot of presidential candidates," Cruz said, "have gone out of their way to take a stick to Donald Trump."

"I am not one of them."

Instead, he credits Trump with "shining a light" on an immigration crisis and getting conservatives excited.

"Look, I like Donald Trump, and I am glad Donald Trump is in this election," he said at a recent stop in South Carolina.

Yet he said, "There will come a time as this campaign goes forward for additional policy differences and differentiation." And his standard campaign pitch — which he has not changed through Trump's rise —

We’ve literally entered a point where virtually every candidate but Trump is hell-bent on screwing us on immigration.

NO ONE knows what Trump is hell bent on... Or even if he’s from HELL.. or not...
He’s a mystery (NOW) except for the extreme liberal positions he has taken in the past.. supported.. and flip flopped on..

It’s true... TRUMP is against illegal immigration THIS WEEK..
AND could indeed out connive the Chinese and Japanese..

America has a hundred problems that MUST be fixed.. not just immigration and trade..
problems that must be fixed by someone that can smash the D.C. conniving.. knows how it works with the power to do it.. i.e. CRUZ

TRUMP is known for conniving.. OUT conniving the democrats Rinos and GOPe is UNWISE.. Fighting fire with fire..

BUT the way is fighting conniving with jail terms or capital punishment is the way.. at least by draconian fines..
Constitutionally by rule of Law.. i.e. Ted Cruz..

“.....the tea party hero who helped shut the federal government in 2013...”
______________________________________________________

Bullcrap. It was Harry Reid and Barack Hussein Obama who “shut down the government” in 2013. The GOP, including Ted Cruz, were burning the midnight oil trying to prevent a “shutdown.”

Why do I use quotes? Because only 17% of the government was actually shut down.

I’m not so sure if he is savvy or trying to ride his coattails. In all fairness, he hasn’t said anything about any of the other candidates either.

Trump on immigration and trade with the Chicoms and Japanese are two positions he's been consistent on for many years.

America has a hundred problems that MUST be fixed.. not just immigration and trade..

Those are the top two issues. If immigration and trade are not fixed, we will have no country.

Constitutionally by rule of Law.. i.e. Ted Cruz..

Mass legalization of aliens will result in anarchy and permanent Democratic power.

>> Cruz has handled Trump’s presence in the race masterfully. Ted’s a very savvy guy.

I agree, but it’s not so much a “savvy” play, but rather the fact that Cruz has deep-rooted ideals and Trump’s positions are in alignment with those ideals. So it’s just natural that Cruz would align with Trump too.

I really believe that Cruz loves this country and believes in conservative virtues to the degree that if he believes Trump is the best way to advance them, he’ll gladly subordinate his own campaign and support Trump.

That said, I’d still prefer Cruz for POTUS, because Ted Cruz is a true-believer Christian who walks the walk. Plus I’m 100% sure that Ted Cruz wouldn’t change his spots after winning the primary and the election. I’d like to believe that about Trump, but...

Well, everyone is vying for the same people. This makes it sound like Cruz is overstepping. He is as respectful as can be of the other candidates. There is no need to cheat and play dirty. Present you ideas, as Cruz is doing, and let those ideas sell themselves. To the extent that he agrees with other candidates, he appropriately acts like he is on the same side. What that tells us is that the ideas trump everything (no reference to the candidate Trump). It is not about him. It is about the ideas. That is very important.

WRONG if the Constitution is not REPOWERED we have no country..
Trump was a democrat and could care less about the Constitution.. like all democrats..

No Constitution - NO COUNTRY...
By the way the U.S. is NOT A COUNTRY NOW.. not will be..

No Constitution NO COUNTRY.. NOW...
First things first.. second things second..

However; some things can be done AS your repowering the Constitution..
because the Constitution is re-powered OTHER THINGS can happen MUST HAPPEN just because the Constitution is in EFFECT.. again..

MANY government service are Unconstitutional MUST GO..
AND immigration is the easyiest problem of all.. to solve..
ENFORCE Current Constitutional laws on the books..

AND most of the illegals will SELF DEPORT..
for the same reason they came here.. for personal safety.

Yahoo is a lefty site. Hence the mildly nasty wording “cosies up’ which is ridiculous. Cruz has had nothing but good things to say about Trump from the beginning.

Actually, Cruz has refrained from criticizing any of the Republican candidates as far as I know. I admire this, we have plenty to criticize on the other side.

I now think the Dem candidate will be Biden which will be bad for us. Biden has something Hillary lacks entirely and that is likeability. Even though he is just north of a moron, Biden is likable.

Likeability is an underrated quality. Bush had it; Kerry and Gore lacked it. Cruz has it.

If we’re going against Biden, Cruz is our best bet although I would be happy to vote for Donald Trump if he makes it that far.

Ted Cruz’s wife is a high-level employee of Goldman Sachs. I find his railings against cronyism somewhat hypocritical.

WRONG if the Constitution is not REPOWERED we have no country.. Trump was a democrat and could care less about the Constitution.. like all democrats..

A false dilemma, since electing Trump isn't going to make the Constitution implode.

But if we elect anyone who either refuses to build the border wall or, like Cruz, Walker, Carson, Rand, and basically all of them, wants to grant legal status to aliens, that's exactly what we'll get, and what that translates to is an additional 9 or 10 percent enlargement of the Democratic vote nationally, and probably the loss of one or more Southern states as a bastion of Republican politics, and the Democrats don't need a lot in order to secure permanent power in this country where 47 percent are always guaranteed to vote Democrat.
