NEW YORK (Reuters) - A day after one of his top aides was critically wounded by a stray bullet, Governor Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday called for a national gun control policy, saying that New York's tough firearms laws are ineffective if they stand alone.
Police sought suspects in the shooting of Carey Gabay, 43, believed to be an unintended target who was struck in the head at an outdoor celebration on Monday before the West Indian Day parade in Brooklyn, a spokeswoman for the New York Police Department said. Gabay, the first deputy counsel at Empire State Development, the state's chief economic development agency, remains in critical condition at Kings County Hospital Center, said a Cuomo spokesman.

Let’s just disarm all registered democrats and those who vote for democrats and those who favor democrat policies.
New Yorkers, stay home! That damned Bloomberg has already been here in my home state of Washington messing our gun laws. The head of Washington Cease Fire is a New York carpetbagger named Fascitelli (I assume the root word here is “fascist”). These two jerks screwed it up for me and all other concealed-carry licensees in this state by convincing all the know-nothing libs to vote for enhanced background checks for every gun purchase, where CCP holders used to be exempt.
It’s not like we don’t have enough native troublemakers here without you guys sending us more!
Pitty that Cuomo did not stop the slug.
... But you cant check the criminal unless you check everyone,” the governor said on CNN...
And, the criminal will eagerly get background
checks. Liberalism is a mental illness.
But criminals don't buy guns from shops, shows or legal owners. They buy them on the street. That's been abundantly (and recently) proven.
A better answer would have been for his aide to have armed himself.
The guy wasn’t shot in my town.
Waving the old bloody shirt again. Disgusting.
Cuomo’s “laws are ineffective if they stand alone” is just plain naïve. (I like to type the word “naïve”. It automatically throws in the two little ditties above the “I” in “naïve”. - This machine also automatically capitalizes the “I”, too, even when I don’t want it capitalized. I only just now discovered this function.) Grrr. - Also, my great grandfather used to be a lightkeeper on the banks of the Tennessee River. He carried a gun and raised his kids to do the same. The river was a tough hangout back then.
...if youre mentally ill you should not have a gun. If you are a criminal, you should not have a gun, Cuomo continued.
...Wasn’t it New York that let all the crazies out of the nut house
sort of...
he did sigh Brady bill, which is one of the 2 thing I have always felt he did wrong.. but still bet president of 20th century.
“Andy Cuomo wants to confiscate guns from people in Colorado because his own states gun control laws are a failure.”
Not their gun-control laws, their *criminal* control laws.
Hey, Andy, where were you when DiBlasio and your liberal judges destroyed STOP AND FRISK? You talk tough now, but were stunningly silent when New York’s successful tactic of getting guns off the the streets was eviscerated. Now your citizens suffer gunshot wounds as a direct result of you and your comrades and you give a marble-mouthed call for national gun laws? Explain that to the family of your wounded aide as he struggles for his life in the hospital near death.
No Brady Bill ever made it to Reagan’s desk.
Clinton signed i tin 1993.
Well, gee, Cuomo. What did you think was going to happen? You and your ilk deny gun rights to millions of your citizens, pass laws that do NOTHING to prevent crime then you scream like Chicken Little when a bud of yours gets killed.
Sorry, you POS. Why don’t you address the real problem?
Governor Andrew Cuomo must be an idiot. He does not seem to know America has a National Gun Policy. It is called the Second Amendment
Horse sh*t from a horse’s *ss.
True that Regan did not sign the Brady Bill but...
[In a 1991 speech, Reagan said]: “I’m a member of the NRA. And my position on the right to bear arms is well known. But I support the Brady bill and I urge the Congress to enact it without delay. It’s just plain common sense that there be a waiting period [7 days] to allow local law enforcement officials to conduct background checks on those who wish to buy a handgun.”
He was wrong to support it. “A right delayed is a right denied.”
So the State’s “SAFE” law didn’t work, and we should expand it nationally?
Test this turd for drugs.
