BALTIMORE – The city of Baltimore says it has reached a $6.4 million wrongful death settlement with the family of Freddie Gray.
Gray died in April after he suffered a critical spine injury while he was in police custody. Six Baltimore police officers face criminal charges stemming from Gray's death. Gray, who was black, was critically injured April 12 in the back of a prisoner transport van after he was arrested.

The question now is ,,, How will this effect the trial , the jury and the case outcome . It appears to me that the trial doesn’t matter to the Mayor , City Council, Board of Estimates , Attorney General , States Attorney etc. . The verdict is in “GUILTY” !!!! This whole matter is just one huge CLUSTERF#@K run by a bunch of rank armatures hell bent on blaming the police for a mysterious cause of death to a career criminal . Wow !!!!! what a great cause .

Not being a lawyer, having never played one on tv or the stage, will this be able to be mentioned in the upcoming trials of the Baltimore 6 (as they are now being referred to here in Mobtown)?
If so, not great for the defense as it certainly indicates that the city believes something was done incorrectly warranting a big payout.

That was just a rumor that was going around for a few days when it first happened, there was no actual evidence for that. He had surgery a while before the incident and some people just assumed it was for something related without any real info.

I’m pretty sure that’s called “prejudicial information” in legalese. Each case has to be decided on its own merits and not based on the disposition of previous cases.
How can this action not create a prejudicial atmosphere in the upcoming criminal trials for the police defendants? A settlement will be seen in the community as an admission of guilt by the City regarding the actions of their police. At a minimum, this should be grounds for a change of venue since it will now be impossible to get an untainted jury locally.
The City of Baltimore settled out of court to prevent the actual facts in the case from being heard.
The facts would prevent “social justice” by derailing the wrongful death settlement.
The facts would also contradict the charges against the officers.
This will not end well. The officers won’t back down and the facts will eventually be heard.
The only useful thing this guy ever did was die, as it turns out.
You are exactly right. Its not like these people are ever Girlscouts....always, always pages of crimes that they were persecuted for. Pages not just one or two things WHICH SHOULD BE ENOUGH.
Heard friday the judge will not take Mosby off the case. And I am sure I heard that Gray learned how to injure himself for best outcomes. I am not sure of the source on that last statement.
