What a nice man!
There is a street in Los Angeles named Blue Jay Way. George Harrison wrote a song about living there surrounded by the L.A. fog. (1967). An instrumental. Vintage hippy type, melodic, light psychedelic music.
I would name him “Larry”
That bird is a ham! Love that photo
Thanks for reminding me. Excellent song!
Sounds good. Why?
So do I. You can right click view and see it full size.
To me they do a lot more than those other ones.
Quite unlikely to mug/carjack, or play the knockout game on you.
I had a Scrub Jay that I made friends with, I’d share my lunch with him and he allowed me to hand-feed him and touch him. I gave him a cracker from between my teeth once. Sometimes he’d just come hang out with me when I was on a break and out at my car. I have pictures of it somewhere. They’re raucous and loud, but kind of fun sometimes.
Blue Jays and Scrub Jays are smarter than many people I run into. No joke. Smart, funny and they have real character.
I love those guys!
Jays are almost as smart their avian cousins, crows and magpies; and magpies are the smartest of all birds.
.
Yes, but Blue Jay Way was not an instrumental.
Flying was the only instrumental they did, which was also the only song credited to all four of them.
Hmmm. I’m not completely sure you’re correct about that. I’ll have to check it out. I think it’s on the Magical Mystery Tour Album, the one with Fool On The Hill.
Yes. Both songs were.

Remember now?
There’s a fog upon LA
And my friends have lost their way
They’ll be over soon they say
Sitting here in Blue Jay Way

Remember?
I was sitting on the porch one morning having a cup of coffee and watched a Stellar Jay torment our cat. The Jay was sitting on the eave of the garage watching the cat prepare a hole to do his morning business. Just as the cat got it to perfection and turned around to use it the jay swooped down just out of reach and the cat leaped messing up his hole in the process. The jay landed on the bird feeder and went back to watching. Same thing, cat tidied the hole and got ready to use it and bird swoops past again. This happened five or six times before the cat finally quit leaping at the jay. It was a riot. They de3finatly have a sense of humor.
Sounds like a fine name.
