As I’ve gotten older I’ve found that I love my comfort while camping. However “camping” among thousands of others in a godforsaken desert is about the last thing I want to do.
Give me a quiet underpopulated campground with showers and I’ll be OK living in a tent for a week or two.
Back in my younger days camping consisted of a beat up Boy Scout backpack, sleeping bag, and a tent. Food was as much pork and beans as I could carry.
Nowadays it’s renting a Class A and making sure I have the makings for a proper Manhattan.

I *LOVE* camping, so long as it's in a Hyatt.
Unfortunately such places don't seem to exist in California. If there are showers, then there are hoards of campers with boom boxes, etc.
So it's either showers and noisy crowds, or pit toilets and peace and quiet for me.
Over time, I went from tent, to tent trailer, to camping trailer, to small motorhome, to large motorhome, to nearest lodge or expensive nearby hotel.
