Police say a child in the suspect vehicle was not harmed
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY)Two people were killed during an officer-involved shooting in Virginia Beach. Police said a suspect shot at officers, who returned fire.
It happened outside the 7-Eleven at the corner of Lynnhaven Parkway and Salem Road. A little before midnight Saturday, Virginia Beach police got information about a person of interest in a homicide case.
Officers found the subject in a car outside the 7-Eleven at 2093 Lynnhaven Parkway. When officers got close, police say the subject shot at them. A bullet went through one officers shirt. He was not harmed.
Those officers shot back at the car and hit the subject. During the shooting bullets also struck the female driver of the car. Both the driver and suspect died at the scene.
The officers that were involved in this will be placed on administrative duty, Virginia Beach Public Information Officer Tonya Borman said. Any case that is officer-involved is also looked at internally. Its a three-prong investigation involving our internal affairs, our homicide unit and the Commonwealths Attorneys Office.
Ofc. Borman said an infant was in the car at the time of the shooting. That child was not harmed and was turned over to Child Protective Services.
Virginia Beach Police are also conducting an active investigation of other suspects related to the original homicide investigation.
The scene off Lynnhaven Parkway .
Hmmm, no info given on the driver or suspect.
Hmmmmm.
Oh well, no need to go further.
Always a good idea to shoot at police officers with an infant in the car. /s
Take your child to work starts early in some places.
Yeah, I wonder if the shooter advised the adult what they we’re going to do ? Luckily the child was unharmed.
His last words were probably something on the order of “They’ll never take me alive”.
Too bad the lady died too.
The biggest loser is the infant. Sigh.
LOL!
Bad boys, bad boys.
What chu gonna do when they come for you?
Poor choice of companions.
The older I get, the more I see how this one choice affects more things than any other factor.
Might be the best thing that ever happened to the infant.
If the infant is placed in a decent adoptive home, he will have a much better chance in life than with parents who brought him to a midnight shootout.
That’s a great insight, especially for this early in the day.
You both have a great point—maybe this is a blessing in disguise to the infant and a chance for a better life.
Unfortunately true; many children (predominantly black) are raised in environments that would never be accepted for average white children. The state has no means to accept all of them, so it just turns a bling eye to it.
This is what I like about FR. Nothing happens anywhere without a Freeper being near to report on it. We are a formidable news service.
Amen to both of you!
WRONG..... He now has a chance.....before that he was doomed to the perp lifestyle. Adoption may make him or her be raised by humans instead of animals
Liberals and BLM looked like this after hearing the news the officer was unharmed...
