I posted a remark some time ago to the effect that hospital visitation rights in the early AIDS era were the motivation for the gay marriage movement. Someone responded that the premise was false because visits were allowed, but of course that is the way I remember it, notwithstanding.
I would not be at all surprised if you are correct. Makes perfect sense to me and the timing is right too. I am going to remember this.
