Trump blasts Hugh Hewitt as 'a third-rate radio announcer'

Donald Trump is blasting Hugh Hewitt after stumbling over foreign policy questions in an interview with the conservative radio host.

“[He is] a third rate radio announcer,” Trump told hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Friday morning.

Trump clashed with the radio host on Thursday evening's "The Hugh Hewitt Show." Hewitt began asking him what he called “commander-in-chief” questions about international affairs. The exchange became heated when Trump mistook a question about Iran’s Quds Force as a query about the Kurds.

On Friday, Trump said that the broadcaster’s show is beneath him despite his multiple appearances with Hewitt since launching his 2016 campaign in June. Trump said Hewitt was trying to embarrass him by asking about obscure topics.

“Every question was, ‘do you know this one or know that one?’” Trump said.

I’ve heard and seen Hugh Hewitt. Trump hits another bull’s eye.

Hugh Hewitt was open borders for years. He has improved but for years the illegal alien invasion was a non-issue for him and he lives in MexiCalifornia!!!

Hewitt had a bromance recently when he interviewed donut boy, Christie. There were no silly questions. Trump has a legitimate complaint.

Not from running for public office, but it should for running for the presidency. Of course, you’re probably not under the impression that’s an entry level job for yourself.

I’m rather savvy in world affairs and politics, and I never heard of them either.

No offense, but if you've never heard of the Quds Forces or General Sulemani, then maybe you're not as savvy in world affairs as you think. They have been among the leading terrorist organizations--if not the leading terrorist group--for 30+ years.

Hugh Hewitt is obsessed with trivia.

Not a bad person — but “third rate annoucner” is probably pretty close to on target.

Mark Steyn was on HH show recently and confronted HH about his “dislike” of Trump. HH denied it, then laughed out loud. I was a long time listener, but began turning him off when he said McConnell was a “great leader and very effective.”
Recall that HH thought Romney would “win by a landslide”. He has just been wrong on so many issues.

Take the chip off your shoulder, all I said was that that he may find himself suffering from over exposure in the media in the coming months.

according to those who have heard all the interviews some of the candidates were told who the players were and then asked to discuss and some were gotcha quizzed on who the players were before the discussions.. it’s an old interview ploy to discredit those you want to discredit..

All I know is that Obama, the ‘Rat Party, and the “leadership” of the Republican Party surrendered to them without a fight.

Someone running for President ought to expect some foreign policy questions. It is OK to say, “I haven’t studied that situation”, or, “No, I don’t care who the head of Pakistan’s internal security is, but if I am President, they will know who I am!”

But Trump wants to be President without doing his homework. And when he flat out doesn’t know what to say, he attacks the person asking.

Not impressed.

Bullshit.
He asks every candidate tough questions, that any presidential candidate should be able to answer.
When he asked Trump about the nuclear triad it was clear he was clueless.

Trump’s NYC presser yesterday was excellent. Two minutes of speech regarding the document he signed, then 25 minutes of Q&A with the audience. Quite refreshing.

Trump got the former treatment - Hewitt mentioned Quds and General Sulemani, asked Trump if he knew who they were, Trump said yes, and then Hewitt continued on with his question. Trump, unprompted, then interjected with a comment about how the Kurds have been treated (revealing Trump's apparent confusion between the Quds Forces and the Kurds, and his apparent ignorance of General Sulemani). He wasn't being quizzed, there was no "gotcha" question. He showed his ignorance on his own, without prompting.

sure and then again with the size lead he has all over the country somebody would have to come out of nowhere and prove to be a huge draw.. just asking who might that candidate be?.. Walker, Bush, Rubio?.. what are they going to start saying to the base that’s going to catch fire and blaze them by Trump in the polls?

don’t see that happening.. my point is sure he can get over exposed a bit but he can stand to take a nice hit in the polls and still walk away with loads of primaries in his pocket

He cannot bring himself to simply say, “I don’t know”.

Which is perfectly acceptable btw. I don’t expect our next POTUS to be a know it all. I don’t want that. But I would like to see a little more humility.
