'In the summer of 1940 the Nazi machine appeared invincible. Britain stood alone as the only free country in Western Europe fighting back against Germany, and all the signs suggested that Hitler intended to launch his invasion soon.
The countrys leaders knew that Britain would likely fall in the event of a well-coordinated attack, but they were determined that if she fell she would go down swinging.
Now was the time to formulate an audacious contingency plan
while they still could.'

"You can always take one with you".
What’s yer secret army to fight the Muslim invasion, Scotty?
The one you keep telling me is no big deal.
Please don’t ring us up again if that problem gets out of hand. You were warned by Powell.
Damned Straight!
But two or three is even better!
But for the ongoing Moslem invasion, “We shall welcome the invaders at the Chunnel and on the beaches, we shall welcome them on the landing grounds, we shall welcome them in the fields and in the streets, we shall welcome them in the hills; we have already surrendered.”
I have never said we don’t have a problem, what I rail against is the nonsense we are swamped or will be, or that ‘they’ run the UK. 96% of the UK isn’t Muslim, 92% is white European.
Three parts of the UK have tiny Muslim/ethnic pops, even much of England has little or no Muslim/ethnic population. Muslims contrary to hype don’t have any major economic, political or social power. Nor are they even the largest UK ethnic group.
As to help, that’s ok, we’ll call Canada first and then wait a couple of years for you lot, just like 1914 and 1939.
There was no waiting in my family.
My dad was a volunteer in the China-Burma-India Campaign. He was born in 1906 so he was actually too old to “step forward.”
My step-father, as a young man, saw war coming so he went across at Windsor, Ontario and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. He had some flying experience and worked as a trainer for the lads who came to UK’s assistance.
Good luck with the Canadians. As for us, don't bother. Nothing left of interest.
Ping to some interesting history.
Don’t take my retort too seriously, it was a sarcastic joke, nothing more.
I would have liked to have met your dad and granddad, they were heroes. God bless them.
Thank you.
WSC was prepared to do anything, up to and including gas.
My dad passed at age 60 in 1966. I was still in high school. Mom remarried and her new husband (not really my step-dad, but he taught me sales and marketing which was a great improvement over the scribbling profession) passed in 1998.
An uncle, youngest of three brothers from Ohio, was a navigator on an American bomber in the 8th Air Force in England. He did his 25 missions and remarkably, never got a scratch. He’s gone now, too.
One of my old bosses at the coal company was an enlisted man in the US Navy and took part in D-Day from a destroyer. His health is failing now at age 92 or 93.
We shall not see the like of them again.
I will cheerfully assemble a volunteer company and defend the Isle of Islay and all warehouses present to the death.
Thanks for posting. If you want to know why populists like Trump do so well here is because THAT SAME SUMMER, US business leaders were meeting in Berlin to figure out ways of accessing the British market, after Britain was occupied.
The mindset of that class of people HAS NOT CHANGED ONE BIT as they now scheme with both parties here to re-populate the United States with people from the South, solely because they see the profits associated with CHEAP LABOR.
I DESPISE those people.
