Will Trump and Cruz be only 2016 candidates at Iran rally?
Washington Examiner ^ | 9/2/15 | Al Weaver

Ted Cruz and Donald Trump are set to rally against the Iran deal next week in Washington, but will other 2016 candidates be joining them?

According to Tea Party Patriots co-founder Jenny Beth Martin, whose group is organizing the event, not a single presidential candidate or campaign has expressed interest in attending the September 9 event at the Capitol.

"I know no other candidates for president in their official capacity or even as a candidate have reached out to us at all about [attending]," Martin told the Washington Examiner Tuesday evening. "No one else has reached out to us."

"I don't even know that we're sending a whole lot of invitations out. Most of the people are coming to us," Martin said".

This claim comes one day after Morton Klein, president of the Zionist Organization of America, told National Review that two different campaigns have expressed interest in attending the event, both of which were forwarded on to Cruz. The comments triggered speculation that Cruz and his team were calling shots regarding invites to other 2016 hopefuls.

However, according to Martin, the Tea Party Patriots is the organization handling who will speak at the event, though Martin confirmed Cruz reached out to Trump.

Martin added that all candidates are invited and encouraged to attend the rally next Thursday.

"If they want to come in their official capacity, as a former governor, a sitting member of Congress or a businessman — whatever. As long as it's in their official capacity and not as a candidate and not the campaign, they can reach out," Martin said. She explained that the rally was intended to showcase opposition to the Iran deal, not to function as a campaign event for any candidate.

Martin's comments echo those of Cruz last Friday, who said the other candidates were "absolutely" welcome to attend when asked by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin if there was an open invitation.

Thus far, aside from Cruz and Trump, only conservative radio hosts Glenn Beck and Mark Levin, along with Martin, have confirmed they will attend and speak at the event.

They should send out invitation, because the other candidates probably think its a cruz/trump only event

No, none, but it would highlight the issue better by being inclusive, even by- pat artisan. Is the goal targeting the Iran agreement or scoring political points?

Levin announced he’s attending the event on his show 9/1/. The way it was first presented I thought it was a Cruz only event. I hope others show up including Jindal and Walker.

So, they do not want this to be a political event, but OK if they show up as governors and congressmen.

So, what is Trump representing? Real Estate investors in Iran?

This sounds like a controlled event for the stars only.

So, who is really in charge?

Larry Kudlow was whining last about Trump not saying enough about the Iran deal. Anything to complain about Trump, I guess.

Anyway, I immediately thought of this appearance.

Is someone supposed to be “in charge” at a rally? People generally just show up at these things.

It sounds like Trump and Cruz are in charge, with Mark Levin granted a special dispensation ...

I'm perfectly fine with that.

Invite Bobby Jindal ? No. He's a great guy, but who has "zero" business running for president.

Invite Dr. Ben Carson ? No. He's a great guy, but who has "zero" business running for president.

Invite Mike Huckabeee ? No. He's NOT a great guy, AND who has "zero" business running for president.

Invite Marco Rubio ? No. He's a "friggin" LIAR, AND who has "zero" business running for president.

Invite Yeb Bush ? No. He's a Pathetic Jerk Liar, and who has "zero" business running for president.

Invite John Kasisch ? No. He's a Yeb Bush wanna-be, AND who has "zero" business running for president.

The other candidates are CONTROLLED by their handlers, with Scott Walker being the best example of that (as in when he takes 3 positions in one week on Anchor Babies).

...and the handlers are adverse to their candidates taking ‘divisive positions’ on ‘controversial issues’. In this case, ANY REPUBLICAN that opposes this deal risks losing 8% of the Iranian-American vote. And even though Iranian-Americans account for 0.0000000000000056% of the overall vote (or about 5 votes total; really 4 votes plus one guy too old to even understand what he’s voting on), that is simply an UNACCEPTABLE loss of minority votes, and if it means having Israel destroyed to keep those 5 votes, then so be it. The Republican Party WILL NEVER AGAIN allow itself to be perceived by Democrats as anti-immigrant. The BIG MONEY PEOPLE have spoken.

...and so the rest of the candidates, who need financing for their campaigns, have, obviously, followed orders.

I bet Trump makes a point of publicly trying to convince the others to come and then when they don’t respond, seize the opportunity to publicly lambast them for it….. provides a great definition between him, Cruz and the others…..and he will go up in the polls.

Maybe I’m a skeptic, but I see this as a way for Cruz to possibly increase his polling numbers. Invite Trump to get the media attention, and bingo - there is Cruz - front and center basking in the glory of the media. I’m sure he is greatly disturbed at this Iranian deal - as we all should be - but, I have to wonder if it all about the deal or a way to get publicity for his campaign?

There has to be a big turn out. Because the news is reporting that Obama got his final vote to prevent an override of his veto.

Why are they waiting to be invited. Why don’t the other candidates take the initiative and do their own thing against the Iran deal.

Cruz took the initiative and organized this thing. No one helped him.

The point is why are the other candidates sitting on their asses?

Ted Cruz is lying, two-faced slimeball politician and no better than Mitch McConnell.

Ted Cruz voted for the Corker Deal, which made passage of the Iran deal possible.

Yeah, the “excuse” is that if the Senate didn’t vote for the Corker deal, Obama would have gone it alone.

LET OBAMA GO IT ALONE!!!!

Now, this deal has the blessing of the US Senate and NO Congressional input!!! That is how this was designed.

Meanwhile, we are supposed to believe that Cruz is really against this deal.

Ted Cruz helped make it possible.

Why?

Because the US Chamber of Commerce wants the Iran deal. You see, it opens up Iran to all the big multinational companies that control the US Chamber. The same multinational companies that want illegal immigrants.

Cruz is a sellout who went along with an unconstitutional maneuver.
